We are looking for a talented and hands on engineer who can drive the deployment and development the FICC Risk Platform, a global strategic infrastructure for real-time risk computation with distributed computing, as part of the Portfolio Analytics engineering team. The FICC Risk Platform is a highly distributed and resilient state machine that is relied on by Traders and Quants in FICC to provide up-to-date risk data for all their transactions. Candidate will be interacting with global stakeholders in Trading, Quants, and Engineers on a regular basis to understand business requirements, design and implement quality solutions.

• The candidate is responsible for designing and implementing the firm’s strategic vision for the FICC technology stack
• You will deliver value by architecting scalable solutions that are primed for reuse across the revenue generating divisions

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional Java/Python development experience

• Familiarity with automated testing, DevOps and Continuous Deployment
• Comfortable multi-tasking, managing multiple stakeholders and working as part of a team
• Strong communication skills, experience working with end users

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in NoSQL data stores, e.g. Cassandra or MongoDB
• Experience with distributed, event driven systems and using messaging protocols

This is a unique opportunity to work on converging multiple legacy systems and execute on the Ledgers strategy to move a single Unified Data source and provide ledgers as a service across the firm. Our current technology drives processing across the firm, and we have started a multi-year convergence program to deliver a single, highly scalable platform for providing core ledgers services, to enable business growth with reduced operational costs.

About the team

Ledgers Engineering is a part of a growing team in Singapore that collaborates with colleagues around the world to deliver our new strategic post trade portfolio platform and build the next generation platform.

We are a fully data centric function that is responsible for managing the Books and Records for the firm. All client activities and position management are taken care by our highly scalable systems that deal with about 100 million transactions daily. The data we produce is distributed to numerous consumers for performing various business functions.

Our strategic new platform is a brand new/greenfield initiative to converge all of our businesses onto a single technology platform, to proving much better scalability, improved resiliency and reducing the time needed to develop and deliver new features. The programme is sponsored by our division’s senior leadership and is one of the key strategic deliveries of the next few years.

All our projects are cross-location and cross-function. We work directly with Front office, Mid-office, Operations, Legal, Tax, Client Reporting and Regulatory Reporting and Engineering colleagues directly and that gives the opportunity to learn about the financial markets and asset classes.

The team is also responsible for generating the client statements, interest calculations and anomaly detection from daily activity across all Goldman Sachs. We use leading edge technologies for the data management and distribution such as Apache Iceberg and Snowflake. The anomaly detection platform uses bigdata technologies for detecting and reporting trade anomalies from the significant volume of data.

The applications and functions are going through complete technology transformation now with vision of resiliency, future sustainability and scalability to manage ever-increasing data volumes and be part of this journey of evolution for the next generation data centric platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Key Responsibilities

· Develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications, ensuring high performance and responsiveness.

· Collaborate with business analysts and other developers to define software requirements and solutions.

· Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code.

· Troubleshoot and debug application issues, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.

· Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle.

The Opportunity

We own, evolve and support the technology platforms that handle the post-execution processing for the Securities Execution, Prime Clearing, and Prime Brokerage businesses. This includes exchange and broker trade processing, internal firm/firm trades and client delivery across physical and synthetic products. We are at the start of a multi-year convergence program to deliver all of these businesses onto a single, high scalable platform, enabling business growth with reduced operational costs.

We’re looking for highly technical, commercially minded, software engineers who enjoy seeing things done differently to join us on this exciting journey.

About the team

Our team consists of 19 people in Singapore and around 75 globally. Almost all of our projects are cross-location and cross-function, meaning we work directly with Front Office, Operations, Legal, Tax, and our Engineering colleagues from those areas, across the wider firm.

We work directly with Operations and Securities sales/trading, to design and implement, a wide range of functions including trade aggregators, trade matchers, payment systems, intercompany trade booking and settlement systems, and connectivity to exchanges, counterparties and vendors. Our Exception Workflow and Business Intelligence tooling allows our Operations teams to respond to client enquiries and monitor service levels.

Our Post Execution platform consists of a variety of applications that demand high throughput, performance and availability, including our strategic new Post Execution Sequencer platform which is a brand new/greenfield initiative to converge all of our businesses onto a single technology platform, to proving much better scalability, improved resiliency and reducing the time needed to develop and deliver new features.

Highly-developed analytical and technical skills, combined with a commercial and collaborative approach to problem solving, are essential to our success.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain a high-performance, high-availability, high-capacity, yet nimble and adaptive platform for transaction cost analytics and execution research
• Develop highly reliable data ingestion processes to consume large volumes of data emitted by trading and market data systems.
• Design distributed computation infrastructure and libraries to run parallelized queries over large volumes of data.
• Design, build and maintain applications to monitor performance of trading strategies in relation to the market in real time.
• Use data to guide decision-making, developing or enhancing tools as necessary to collect it.
• Communication with traders, sales, clients and compliance officers about new feature requests, explanation of existing features etc.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Bachelors or Master’s degree in computer science or engineering or equivalent experience
• Core Java Developer with min. 1 year of experience
• Experience of developing and managing high volume, distributed, real-time transaction processing systems
• Familiarity with Test Driven Development and Business Driven Development
• Experience with OO design, performant data structures and algorithms.
• Experience of databases (SQL, NoSQL)
• Linux / Unix skills including scripting (shell)
• Beneficial background knowledge/experience as below:
• Experience of sequencer/event-based architectures.
• Web development skills (Vert-x, NodeJS, etc).
• Knowledge of financial markets.
