Job description
A mixologist is a professional who delves into the rich history of mixed drinks and cocktails, possessing a deep understanding of the significance of each ingredient and the nuanced effects of various mixing techniques. Their expertise goes beyond merely serving drinks; they are instrumental in crafting new cocktail recipes by seamlessly blending innovative concepts with traditional wisdom.
Their multifaceted responsibilities include:
- Crafting unique interpretations of classic cocktails.
- Employing unconventional bar tools to create inventive beverages.
- Skilfully combining diverse ingredients to introduce fresh and exciting cocktail recipes.
- Remaining abreast of emerging cocktail trends to stay ahead in the dynamic field.
- Engaging in collaborative efforts with fellow mixologists to explore and adopt new techniques.
- Providing guidance and supervision to bartenders, ensuring the consistent quality of drinks.
- Curating extensive and personalised cocktail menus tailored to the specific needs of a restaurant, event, or bar.
Skill / task requirement:
1. Knowledge of the industry: It's important for both bartenders and mixologists to be aware of fundamental industry knowledge and also monitor industry and customer preference trends. This helps both of them complete their jobs effectively since bartenders often know how to make traditional drinks and mixologists often stay up to date with changes in the industry to create innovative cocktail recipes.
2. Communication skills: Communicate with customers and colleagues behind the bar to provide quick and effective service.
3. Customer service: Both bartenders and mixologists interact with customers while serving them drinks. Having customer service skills helps them to interact positively, answer questions about the drink selection and provide engaging conversation.
4. Creativity: This skill helps mixologists & bartenders incorporate surprising or innovative elements into their drinks. In comparison, bartenders may display creativity when mixing a drink or when customers ask them to create a customized cocktail.
5. A good memory: In each role, you may remember hundreds of drink recipes, including several ingredients and mixing techniques. Additionally, you may remember who ordered what when they're serving drinks at a busy time.
6. Organization: Mixologists and bartenders use their organizational skills to ensure customers receive their drink orders in a timely fashion. They may also organize their workspace to maintain a tidy bar and comply with food safety regulations.
7. Team work: Willingly to performance Bar back task e.g Wash glasses, inventory, breakage records and to support Service when is necessary and carrying out other duties typically expected of the position as required from time to time.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 2-5 year in a Bar / Restaurant environment
- Food hygiene and safety certification
- Able to work on rotating shifts, weekends & public holidays
- Possess a well-groomed, professional appearance
