AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
This role will lead the design vision and strategy across all products, ensuring alignment with business objectives and delivering seamless user experience. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the design culture, mentoring the design team, and working closely with product and engineering leaders to drive product strategy.
Design Execution & Delivery:
- Oversee the design process from initial concept to execution, ensuring designs align with user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.
- Conduct regular design reviews to ensure deliverables align with product strategy and maintain a high standard of execution.
Design Management:
- Lead, mentor, and manage the design team, conducting performance reviews and creating personal development plans to cultivate a high-performance, collaborative environment.
- Establish and promote efficient design processes, best practices, and workflows, ensuring consistent, high-quality output across all projects.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to define and execute product strategies, roadmaps, and user experience goals.
- Ensure design is integrated early into the product development process and is central to organizational decision-making, advocating for the value of design across teams.
Design & Research Operations:
- Maintain and enhance a unified design system to ensure consistency across products and touchpoints.
- Set up systems for gathering and analyzing customer feedback (e.g., centralized research repository, user testing, automated surveys) to inform design decisions.
- Streamline workflows and optimize research processes to continuously improve design operations and delivery efficiency
End-to-End Customer Experience Strategy:
- Develop and refine the customer journey across all touchpoints to provide a cohesive and compelling experience. Guide the design and implementation of comprehensive marketing materials (website, presentations, brochures, newsletters, social media posts, etc).
- · Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to define consistent product messaging, positioning, and branding, ensuring alignment with the company's brand strategy and business objectives across all customer-facing channels.
- Drive market research initiatives to inform content strategies and marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with target audience needs, competitive landscape, and emerging industry trends
- Utilize data driven insights to refine product messaging and increase audience engagement by establishing or enhancing performance tracking systems for relevant channels.
- Source and manage vendors for executing product marketing, content creation, and other design-related deliverables, ensuring they meet the standards of the project and align with overall strategy.
- Provide thought leadership on how design plays a central role in shaping the company’s brand values and customer experience, establishing the company as a design-forward brand and product in the industry.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & CORE COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in one or more of the following: computer science, arts, design, or a transferrable degree
- 8+ years of experience in product/UX design, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing teams of designers
- Least 3 years experience in sustainability-related software development
- Proven track record of leading design projects, driving user-centered design, and fostering transformation
- Experience with design systems and ensuring consistency across large-scale digital products
- Strong ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and product
- Expertise in user research, design thinking, and translating insights into actionable design solutions
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and how design integrates into agile workflows
- Strong understanding of accessibility standards and creating inclusive design experiences
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to advocate for design decisions to both design and non-design audiences
- Strong skills in project management, client engagement, oral and written communication
- Ability to develop, maintain, and enjoy effective working relationships with people from a wide variety of organizations and with a wide variety of functional expertise
