We are seeking a talented and motivated Data Scientist to join our analytics team, focusing on policy services and payments within the insurance sector. As a Data Scientist, you will analyze complex data sets related to policy administration, customer interactions, and payment transactions to provide actionable insights that drive our business strategies and decision-making processes.

This role will require you to demonstrate your strong analytical skills & ability to story tell key messages back to the business.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze large and complex data sets related to policy administration, payment transactions, customer demographics, policy renewals, and service interactions.
• Develop and implement predictive models and algorithms to improve policy retention, customer satisfaction, payment processing efficiency, and fraud detection.
• Collaborate with policy services, payments, underwriting, IT, and customer service teams to understand business requirements and translate them into analytical solutions.
• Perform data preprocessing, cleansing, and validation to ensure data quality and accuracy.
• Create data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Use statistical techniques to interpret data and make recommendations for process improvements and strategic initiatives.
• Monitor policy service and payment system performance and identify opportunities for optimization and enhancement.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and advancements in data science, analytics, policy services, and payment technologies.
• Document and present analytical methodologies and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 4+ years’ experience as a Data Analyst or similar role is preferred.
• Proven experience as a Data Scientist, preferably in the insurance industry or with policy services and payment systems.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
• Experience with ETL tools, data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau or PowerBI) and statistical analysis (e.g., hypothesis testing, regression, predictive analytics) is a must.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Knowledge of machine learning techniques and algorithms.
• Familiarity with insurance data, policy administration systems, and payment processing is a plus.
• Ability to draw insights from data to provide practical solutions.
• Ability to explain technical concepts in a clear and succinct manner to various stakeholders.
• Being able to work independently once the tasks are defined.
• Being pro-active in identifying ways of improving how we operate as a team.
• Willing to explore data science projects and learn new technologies

Responsibilities:

Product

• Regular monitoring of the product mix to identify sales trends. Highlight sales opportunities for business growth and identify any gaps
• In-depth analysis of sales from different Distribution channels (Tied Agency, Banks, FAs, Brokers, Digital, etc)
• Analysis of LIA Statistics to identify industry trends and movement of competitors
• Conduct customer profile analysis of current products to enhance sales proposition & positioning
• Monitoring of Key Product KPI and highlight concerns/ issues
• Work closely with the Product Proposition Specialists to identify key top districts to engage and area of focus to bridge any sales gap
• Analysis of product mix by districts to influence sales behavior of producers to achieve the right business mix.

Vitality

• Regular monitoring to support users on their daily decisions on Vitality operations, strategic planning and specific business performance
• Identify and analyse Vitality data points to provide meaningful insights and findings that would improve business decision on product refinement, improvement of benefits & features, allow better projection when designing sales and members campaigns to drive business performance
• Work with key business owners & stakeholders to identify any business opportunities or issues that require insights and the data requirement that would help in their daily work decisions

Data Management

• Constant review of operational process and provide enhancements to eliminate redundancy and improve efficiency
• Participate in the Group Operations Critical Data Element initiative for proper data governance
• Ensure data integrity in all data related process and outcome

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years experience in Data Analytics field
• Experience in programming languages such as SQL or equivalent
• Proficient in data analytics and visualization tools such as Alteryx, Databricks, Tableau or equivalent
• Ability to process large datasets and complete projects in an accurate and timely manner

Responsibilities:

• Support data collection and analysis for risk reporting
• Assist in preparing reports and presentation materials
• Work closely with cross functional teams to gather data requirements and ensure data integrity
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency

Requirements:

• Strong understanding of the application of data analytics and processing tools
• Experience in Tableau, MS Excel, etc.
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Work experience in financial industry is preferred but not required.
