My client is looking for qualified candidates with specialised and deep technical skills acquired through extensive industry experience. Pending experience, the candidate can apply for an Assistant/Manager, Senior or a Lead Professional Officer role.
The successful candidates will be part of their pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers (PO) scheme. They form the talent pool which brings a much-needed industry perspective to student learning. They facilitate applied learning and applied research in the institution, complementing the academic expertise of the faculty to bring industry practices and applications into the curriculum.
Professional Officers leverage on their industry experiences to create authentic learning environments, where discovery and innovation take place. They act as coaches and mentors to students during practical learning activities such as laboratory sessions, Capstone Projects and the work study programme. Professional Officers could also lead or work with faculty on industry innovation projects to provide solutions to the industry.
In addition to their role in applied learning and applied research, Professional Officers manage the centralised laboratory facilities and resources in the institution. With Technical Officers, laboratory safety professionals, and administrators in department, they jointly develop central policies and processes for the safe and seamless operation of laboratories in the institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and teach practical learning activities (laboratory sessions, tutorials, simulation etc) with assessment of students.
- Mentor and supervise students in practical learning activities, clinical placements and thesis/capstone Projects.
- Collaborate with industry partners and coordinate clinical placements for Clinical Practice Education (CPE).
- Manage laboratories and equipment to support academic programmes and applied research.
- Ensure safety in laboratories through proper operational processes and maintenance of equipment and promoting safety culture across laboratories within the Health and Social Sciences cluster.
- Coordinate procurement of equipment and liaison with vendors/suppliers.
- Lead or co-lead innovation projects with industry to enhance clinical care innovation and productivity.
Job Requirements
- SNB-valid Full Practicing Certificate (Registered Nurse).
- A degree in Nursing from a recognised University. Possessing a Master’s degree, PhD degree and relevant certifications will be an added advantage.
- Have at least 10 years of clinical nursing experience in healthcare settings.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of nursing skills and industry practices to bring industry perspectives to the institution.
- Keen interest in innovation projects, with demonstrated ability in developing solutions to technical problems. Experience in research projects and publications will be an added advantage.
- Strong supervisory skills and enjoy working closely with students in an educational environment. Experience in simulation education will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrate proficiency to keep abreast of development in the field and pursue professional certification programs. Possessing industrial certifications in relevant areas will be an added advantage (e.g., simulation training)
- Possession of a good network of relationships with industry partners in hospitals, community, and ILTC sectors will be an added advantage.
