Job Description:
Research and develop new technologies for smart building applications and advanced building controls.
Based on the R&D outcome, design the air-conditioning system using Building Energy Modeling (BEM) and programming languages such as Python to develop new technologies and install them in real buildings.
Use digital technology, such as data science and machine learning tools, and evaluate the application effectiveness and drive improvements.
Lead the development of new technology related to smart buildings and advanced building controls and manage the entire R&D project, from scope definition to budget and risk management etc.
As R&D project leader, provide design and commissioning consulting to customers for the application of newly developed HVAC systems to buildings.
Conduct a survey and analyze the collected data along with BEM-based building controls to develop a new building environment focused on occupant comfort and behavior, guided by well-being research.
Job Requirements:
Master’s degree or equivalent related to Architectural Engineering
Advanced knowledge of building physics, indoor environmental quality, HVAC system, control theory, and human behavior
Proficiency in building energy modeling (BEM) such as EnergyPlus and/or TRNSYS
Proficiency in data science and machine learning with demonstrated skills in programming languages such as R and Python
Experiences in implementing AI and BEM-based building controls considering individual occupants’ comfort and behavior
Minimum 10 years experience as a Researcher
Minimum 5 years experience as a Lead Researcher in research/building projects using BEM
Good oral and written communication skills in both English and Japanese (native or N1 Japanese language level is required as the role required to collaborate with Japan HQ extensively.)
