The Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Engineer is responsible for designing, coordinating, and overseeing the mechanical and electrical systems in construction or industrial projects. This role involves working closely with other engineers, architects, contractors, and project managers to ensure that mechanical and electrical systems are designed and implemented in compliance with relevant standards, are cost-effective, and meet the functional and safety requirements of the project.
- Design and develop mechanical and electrical systems for projects, including HVAC, lighting, power distribution, and plumbing systems.
- Collaborate with architects and civil engineers to integrate M&E systems seamlessly into the overall project design.
- Ensure that all designs comply with local regulations, building codes, and industry standards.
- Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and plans for mechanical and electrical installations.
- Oversee the installation of mechanical and electrical systems, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
- Ensure that installation is carried out safely, adhering to safety standards and risk management protocols.
- Conduct testing and commissioning of M&E systems to ensure they are fully operational and meet performance standards.
- Manage the M&E components of the project, including scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating with subcontractors and vendors.
- Monitor and supervise on-site activities to ensure compliance with M&E specifications and quality standards.
- Collaborate with project managers and other engineers to ensure efficient project execution.
- Provide ongoing technical support during and after the construction phase, ensuring the mechanical and electrical systems are functioning efficiently.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ensure that preventive maintenance schedules are established and followed.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of designs, technical specifications, calculations, and installation activities.
- Report project progress to senior management, identifying any potential delays or issues and recommending solutions.
Requirement
- A Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 3-5 years of experience in mechanical and electrical engineering, with a focus on construction, building services, or industrial projects.
- Must have Singapore's experience in HDB projects
- Holding a Professional Engineering (PE) certification or other relevant qualifications in M&E engineering (e.g., CEng, LEED accreditation) is a plus.
