[What the role is]
NEA’s Inspectorate Department administers the Environmental Protection and Management Act (EPMA) and its Regulations to manage and control air, water and noise pollution, as well as hazardous substances and toxic industrial waste at industrial and trade premises.
[What you will be working on]
You will be working in a fast-paced and highly volatile environment that may require you to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time. You will work with the industries in the western part of Singapore to ensure the EPMA and its Regulations are complied with, as well as be part of a team to review and enhance NEA’s concept of operations for responding to environmental pollution incidents. Your key responsibilities will include the following:
Manage and co-ordinate a team to inspect trade and industrial premises to ensure compliance with pollution control, hazardous substances, and toxic industrial waste requirements.
Respond to environmental pollution incidents during and after office hours.
Attend to feedback from public pertaining to pollution matters.
Conduct technical assessments and evaluate environmental requirements for new industrial and trade premises.
Develop and review the concept of operations for responding to environmental pollution incidents.
Support the procurement and equipping plan for laboratory and relevant analytical equipment.
Prepare reports and presentations to senior management on environmental related issues.
[What we are looking for]
The job might be for you if you possess the following qualities:
Degree in Chemical/Environmental Engineering
Knowledgeable in principles of environmental sampling and pollution control.
Possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, e.g. toggling excel, functions, coming up with creative presentations.
Organised and able to multi-task.
Mature, independent and resourceful.
Preferably, possesses a Class 3 driving licence.
Able to work on weekends and after office hours, when required.
