This job aims to address some significant issues about realizing large-area (up to meter scale), high-precision (single-pixel resolution), and customized (digitally-controlled) structure-color nanoprinting. The main targets are threefold:

1. Thoroughly understand the interactions between light and matters, uncover novel photonic structures to manipulate light, and explore new effects, remarkable phenomena, unique features and high-performance structure-color applications. Research directions include selective optical transmission, specific light enhancement, and cross-scale light modulation.
2. Study the color-generation mechanisms from the point of view of nanophotonics and material science. The research results should efficiently provide a comprehensive and novel perspective for understanding the coloration phenomena and underlying the interactions between light and photonic structures at different scales, and be expected to provide effect guidance for high-resolution, durable, and versatile structure-color nanoprinting, thus advancing the structural color towards widespread use.
3. Explore appropriate schemes to demonstrate the vibrant and high-resolution structure-color images, to investigate the paradigm from initial digital design to the final printing results, and expand the general laws of structural color from theoretical simulation to practical application, etc. At last, one or two scenarios should be experimentally demonstrated.

Considering the above research targets, the candidate should possess in-depth interdisciplinary knowledge of micro- and nano optics, materials science, physical insights, and topological photonics, digital imaging graphics, nanoprocessing technology, etc. Sufficient experience in the design, fabrication, measurement, and characterization of structure-color nanoprinting is preferred.

Qualifications

1. PhD Degree in photonic crystals and structured colors, or relevant area with a strong background in micro/nano optics and structure color.
2. Working experience in the field of micro- and nanofabrication, additive manufacturing, photonic crystals, optical sensing and detection.
3. Mathematics and specific knowledge required in geometric optics, interference theory, photonic bandgap, self-assembly, and topography control.
4. The study involves a baseline survey and home-based as well as clinic-based assessments among a national cohort of older adults, coupled with short quarterly follow-up interviews that collect data on falls post-baseline. • Undertake quantitative research using the TARGET study data, and write academic manuscripts for publication in high-impact scientific journals.

The Research Fellow (Postdoc) will conduct research in the field of coastal dynamics, in terms of coupled CFD model on wave-current-seabed interaction and their impact on different shoreline types, e.g. beach, mudflat, mangrove regions. • Wave-current-storm surge interaction modelling and water inundation prediction.

The Centre for Outbreak Preparedness (“COP”) at Duke-NUS was launched in June 2022, with a vision to enhance regional health security across Asia - with major focus on supporting low-and-middle income countries across the region. A key pillar of COP’s efforts is to support the Asia Pathogen Genomics Initiative (“Asia PGI”) which was established to enhance genomic pathogen surveillance in 14 countries in Asia, and accelerate the new tool development to enhance outbreak response capacity. We are recruiting a full-time executive for the lead faculty of the ADVANcing Clinical Evidence in Infectious Diseases Network (ADVANCE ID). The appointment will be at executive or senior executive level, depending on the experience of the candidate.

ADVANCE ID is jointly funded by the Wellcome Trust and Singapore institutions including the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. The vision of the Network is to improve public health by developing the clinical evidence base for the prevention and treatment of drug-resistant infections. Its mission is to build and sustain a strategic clinical research network focused on most efficiently delivering locally relevant interventions for drug-resistant infections.

The Network aims to improve and strengthen clinical research capabilities in the region by acting as a platform to develop good principles and practices. It will stabilize capacity and capabilities to mitigate inefficiencies in trial start-up phase and loss of skillset following study closure, as in typical trial setup. Rainfall-induced erosion failure of the slope is a severe concern in many tropical countries as it can harm public safety and/or infrastructure. The impact could be especially severe in Singapore as our population density is high and our infrastructure development is very dense; hence, some of these slopes are near to the infrastructure development and residential areas. The erosion failure can also lead to high repair costs. Singapore is tropical country with very high annual rainfall. Climate change seems to intensify our rainfall and increase its frequency. And this will increase the occurrence of erosion failure of slope.

This project seeks to study this and develop an “Erosion Risk Map” for Singapore. The scope of works includes the reviewing the mechanism of slope erosion, studying erosion potential subject to rainfall condition, conducting laboratory model testing, supervising site scan on the physical condition for selected slopes in Singapore for risk map development.

The Asia Research Institute invites outstanding, active researchers from around the world to work on an important piece of Asia-centred research in the social sciences or humanities.

Apart from the quality of the research proposal, and the applicant’s publication track record, positions will be awarded on the basis of the relationship of their research topic to the identified priorities and themes of ARI’s research clusters as listed in Research Clusters and Their Foci (click here). ADVANCE-ID is jointly funded by the Wellcome Trust and Singapore institutions including the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. The vision of the Network is to improve public health by developing the clinical evidence base for the prevention and treatment of drug-resistant infections. Its mission is to build and sustain a strategic clinical research network focussed on most efficiently delivering locally relevant interventions for drug-resistant infections.

The Network aims to improve and strengthen clinical research capabilities in the region by acting as a platform to develop good principles and practices. It will stabilise capacity and capabilities to mitigate inefficiencies in trial start-up phase and loss of skillset following study closure, as in typical trial setup. The Network will continuously develop its capabilities, quality and efficiency by learning from and collaborating with other clinical trial networks.

In the long term, the Network aims to support broader infectious disease studies by expanding geographically beyond its original starting point in South East Asia and collaborating with other networks around the world.
