PURPOSE
We are seeking a General Manager who will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the logistics & planning operations, including optimizing warehouse configuration, warehousing inventory management, and transportation distribution. GM will develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction. This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, operational management skills and profound intricacies of Japanese business.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Building strong relationships with Japanese customers to understand their needs and expectations.
- Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities with Japanese clients, building strong relationships with key decision-makers.
- Staying informed about the latest trends and developments in the Japanese market, including consumer preferences, economic conditions, and competitive landscape.
- Adapting logistics services and communication materials to cater specifically to the Japanese market, considering cultural preferences and language requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team and train successor as part of succession planning.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Cross-functional collaboration working closely with other divisions, our regional company and Head quarter in Japan and other overseas group.
- Monitor and analyse financial performance, including cost control and maximize the profitability to achieve budget.
- Driving budget and financial planning for business development.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through efficient and reliable logistics services.
- Developing and implementing the overall logistics strategy, ensuring alignment with the company's business objectives.
- Analysing and implementing process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics operations.
- Conducting market research and analysis to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Leading and managing a team of logistics professionals, including transportation, warehousing, planning and inventory management staff.
- Managing relationships with logistics service providers, including carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.
- Negotiating contracts and rates with customers and logistics service providers.
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including safety, environmental, security and customs regulations.
- Developing and managing the logistics budget, identifying and implementing cost-saving measures.
- Resolving customer complaints and issues related to logistics operations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Degree in business, Supply chain or equivalent field preferred.
Technical Skills and Prior Experience
- Minimum 20 years work-related experience in warehouse / logistics / planning business.
- Specialised in the Japanese market environment, prior experience working in a Japanese company or with Japanese clients is highly advantageous.
- Network of relationships with key decision makers in the Japanese market will be a significant asset.
- Global mindset with ability to operate effectively in a global environment, collaborating with colleagues from different region, cultures and time zones.
- Possess sufficient knowledge and experience in warehouse / logistics / planning business.
- Must be IT proficient and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting. Have strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office.

- Proficiency in both written and spoken Japanese (JLPT N2 Level) is essential for effective communication and relationship building with Japanese clients and partners.
