About Our Group
RMO Material Science Laboratory’s primary mission is to provide analytical test solutions to enable media and product qualification on product yield, quality, and reliability. The team also serves a critical role on HDM tribology, contamination, and defect reduction, working closely with and enabling other functions in the disciplines of Mechanical, Electrical, Recording Technology, R&D, Customer Integration, and Manufacturing. This role will report to an Engineering Manager.
About the Role – You will:
Be a team member in next generation Recording media development & product qualification to improve process stability & manufacturability. Task to work with R&D team & Process to support media Carbon and lubricant characterization, interface, and surface contamination analysis.
Perform material science lab test and hands on operation laboratory analytical instruments e.g. XPS, Raman, GDOES & SEM-EDX.
- Work on data analysis and support Work with team to support measurement focus on media Carbon overcoat & sputter layer characterization.
- Work in a team that develops metrology and deploys technical solution to meet the products CTQ and reliability requirements of hard disc drive.
- Work closely with the design functional groups to provide high-level analytical support to product and process engineering team.
About You

- PhD in Material Science/Chemistry/Analytical Chemistry.
Your Experience Includes:
- Specialize in surface techniques & analysis, polymer/ coatings/material characterization.
- Lab skills, including operation of analytical spectroscopic and data analytics techniques.
