Job Overview:
The Accounting Executive manages and maintains accurate financial records, ensures compliance with accounting principles, and supports the organization’s economic health. This role involves handling day-to-day accounting tasks, preparing financial reports, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure smooth financial operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Record Management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Perform daily bookkeeping, including accounts payable and accounts receivable entries.
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure all discrepancies are resolved promptly.
Month-End and Year-End Closures:
- Assist in the preparation and closing of monthly and yearly financial statements.
- Prepare and record journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.
- Ensure proper documentation of financial records for auditing purposes.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process vendor invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Generate customer invoices, follow up on outstanding payments, and manage credit control.
- Monitor cash flow and prepare payment schedules.
Taxation & Compliance:
- Prepare and file tax returns (e.g., GST, VAT, corporate taxes) in compliance with local regulations.
- Ensure adherence to financial laws and guidelines.
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants during audits and tax reviews.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and improvement opportunities.
- Assist management in budgeting and forecasting processes.
Process Improvement:
- Review and improve existing accounting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and implement necessary updates.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments to ensure financial compliance and support.
- Provide financial insights and advice to support decision-making.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent are an advantage.
- Proven experience in accounting or a similar role.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations, standards, and practices.
