You will join the Quality Assurance (QA) Section which is equipped with advanced and comprehensive laboratory facilities. You will assist the chemist to contribute to the laboratory's commitment to meet relevant safety, environmental and quality management standards and support production process to meet organizational objectives.

Your Responsibilities

• To work with a team of analysts and technicians to perform testing and analysis of semi-finished and finished polyolefin product (Polyethylene and Polypropylene) via a variety of sophisticated analytical, processing and testing equipment.
• To establish, update and maintain procedures and other quality and safety records to ensure they are accurate and up-to-date, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
• To oversee proper upkeep of the laboratory equipment to ensure they are always in good working condition. To carry out basic troubleshooting in case of equipment trouble, or to work closely with the vendor’s technical representative to diagnose problems, troubleshoot issue and to implement solutions in a timely manner.
• To conduct regular monitoring of stock level of laboratory inventory supply, and upkeeping of inventory records to ensure smooth day to day operation.
• To collaborate with other Sales and Production members to assist in troubleshooting and technical investigation.
• To participate in laboratory ISO and safety activities that will contribute to a safe work environment and to comply to safety and environmental regulations.

Your Competencies

• Degree in Chemistry and/or a Diploma in Chemical Process Technology (major in Polymer Science or Material Science is a plus)
• Candidates with no experience are welcome
• Experience in polymer material processing and testing will be an added advantage
• Comfortable with working OT on Saturday when necessary

Job Description

• To continuously plan, organise and perform routine QC analysis of incoming material, in-process and finished process samples in accordance to documented testing methodology. Planning and co-ordination of the workload is required to meet the demands of other departments and the wider business.
• To be responsible for making daily decisions on any QC results, problem solving skills are required to ensure only true results are accepted which could have a minor impact on the business.
• Proactively identify and initiate continuous improvements to products and systems used within QC.
• To carry out short term projects involving non-routine analysis (upto six months). This includes customer complaint investigations which requires problem solving which could be based on vague information, involving multiple departments and knowledge of the site products.
• May be responsible for calibration of equipment and maintenance of the records follwing routine procedures.
• To liaise and communicate daily (both verbal and written) correct results and information to the appropriate departments in a timely manner. Accurate results and attention to detail ensures that the customer receives the correct quality of product to their specification requirements. This minimises the number of quality complaints and claims from the external customers.
• Role holders provide guidance to plant operators when in the laboratory and assume full responsibility of the QC laboratory outside of standard working hours. To work with no supervision outside normal hours.
• Decision making that impacts other departments will be through referral to line managment or shift managers (or equivalent) outside normal hours.
• To supervise and train new members of the department together with providing information and awareness of products and test methods.
• The role requires the job holder to have a good knowledge of site analytical techniques.
