Assistant Manager, Line Management (ALM)
Summary:
To assist a Line Manager (LM) or Trade Head on a day-to-day running of his/her service. An ALM may also be responsible for the Profit and Loss of a service without any vessel provision. This is usually on a service where there is slot on a third-party service.
This is a permanent position based in Singapore and reports to the Hub Director / General Manager / Trade Head.
Job Responsibilities:
To assist a Line Manager (LM) with relatively heavy daily operational workload, ranging from:
- Daily operational aspect including monitoring vessel movement at sea and vessel activities when in port. This includes close liaison with overseas agents as well;
- Space control including over-booking management; cargo selections and fixed slot customer excess request;
- Update vessel position for client’s operated ship and partner’s vessel. Disseminating revised schedule to internal and key clients;
- Close monitoring of daily bunker consumption via use of the system and ensure vessel consumption is in line with Time Charter Description (TCD) and cross check against other sister ships previously operated in the trade or region;
- Monitor and review bunker survey report of individual stem and confirm that reported quantities are in line with master’s reported ROB. Deal with any variations immediately.
Assistant Line Manager (ALM) can and will sometimes be assigned a third-party independent service. Usually, the cost is fixed and ALM ability to influence the profit and loss is space utilization and rates.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in maritime business or business management;
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in shipping line involving in trade;
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with colleagues across departments and various internal and external stakeholders;
- Overseas travel and/or after office hours work and travel may be required;
- Ability to focus on tasks and analyses situations, systems and problems;
- Ability to make quick decisions supported by information and data gathered;
- Able to work in fast paced and dynamic environment;
- Proficiency in the English language, both verbal and written.
