Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Buyer to join our team. As a Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for managing procurement processes, negotiating contracts, and maintaining strong vendor relationships. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our projects, particularly in manufacturing companies. You will need to have the ability to read mechanical drawings and experience in project management, specifically in BOM projects, CIP (Continuous Improvement Project), and NPI (New Product Introduction). Additionally, you should have experience in issuing purchasing orders and be able to work effectively under stress in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Manage procurement processes for projects, ensuring timely completion of purchase requisitions.
• Collaborate with the project management team to manage changes and updates to purchase orders, utilizing appropriate tools such as Jira.
• Conduct invoice reconciliation, working closely with vendors and accounts payable to resolve outstanding invoices and improve processes.
• Utilize your ability to read mechanical drawings to gather necessary information for projects.
• Develop RFQs (Request for Quotations), analyze quotations from vendors, and provide sound sourcing recommendations considering cost, quality, lead-time, and technical considerations.
• Negotiate pricing, contract terms, and manage cost changes throughout project lifecycles.
• Take ownership of vendor selection and onboarding processes.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as project managers, engineers, and other cross-functional teams on project-related tasks.
• Maintain and manage key supplier relationships and performance throughout project lifecycles.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working in manufacturing companies is required.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings is essential.
• Strong project management skills, particularly in BOM projects, CIP, and NPI.
• Experience in issuing purchasing orders.
• Ability to work effectively under stress in a fast-paced environment.

How will you contribute...

Purchasing Strategy

- Define and put in place purchasing strategies and rosters

- Bring a merchandising & agency knowledge, Advertising and Promotion (A&P) marketing skills and sensibility to products and projects

- Benchmark the market, attend related industry conferences and trainings

- Design and manage a KPI dashboard to measure and boost the performance

- Develop strong relationship with MH purchasing community and LVMH Purchasing Community

Operational

- Contribute to the set-up and respect of compliance through the full purchasing process

- Launch the RFQs to the suppliers selected from the panel, advocate strategy, analyse and benchmark results and negotiate with the suppliers/agencies in close collaboration with internal clients

- Ensure the management of the schedules and goals with best-in-class project management skills

- Organize working sessions, business reviews, supplier evaluation between the brands and agencies

- Review, and manage the contracts and supplier/agency negotiations and feedback; track key contracts & expiration dates to ensure proactivity

- Focusing on 80% Marketing, 20% Supply Chain, IT and General expenses projects

Vision

- Keep a synthetic vision of the market category and know the main players and industry trends

- Manage the agency & supplier panel by evaluating suppliers and developing relationships

- Manage through challenges such as quality or delay issues, if necessary, with agencies, suppliers and brand contacts

- Meet with key stakeholders regularly to have a clear picture of budgets, key projects, brand objectives, ensuring alignment

- Frequent alignment with senior leadership from different markets on a weekly basis.

Requirements:

· At least 3 years of relevant experience in Purchasing functions with strong focus on Marketing

· Experience working with event agencies and Retail.

· Proven ability to collaborate effectively with Global and International teams.

· Proficiency in SAP knowledge.

· Excellent interpersonal and communical skills, with client oriented approach

· A proactive and autonomous self-starter, capable of taking initiative

· Strong team player with influencing skills

· Experience in Southeast Asia or Regional roles would be an advantage

• Enhance the total value proposition and delivery of the purchasing organisation, driving execution of the strategy at a category level and ensuring synergy program achievement.

• Ensure delivery of the P+ targets, projects and implementation of the category strategies for the BU’s within the area of responsibility (i.e. Resins Category)

• Facilitate the implementation of procurement strategic sourcing plans, understanding, acknowledging and resolving roadblocks ensuring prompt initiative implementation

• Represent category requirements within the procurement organisation and act as a central focal point for BU communication and ensuring category requirements are recognised within purchasing strategy

• Interface with the full breadth of the procurement organisation with a focus on execution and compliance, and ensure best practice and local procurement activity development.

• Support the Resins category by using best purchasing practices, ensuring pooling of spend/commodities across plants or regions is performed when relevant or achievable, and making sure that all relevant category procurement saving initiatives are recorded within the group Procurement savings tool.

• Support central purchasing tools and processes, in the form of implementation, maintenance or utilisation.

• Work seamlessly with other group functions that have a category focus (i.e. CI) ensuring commonality of purpose and shared resource input.

Job Responsibilities

Purpose and Scope

This role will support the Head of Procurement, Singapore & Southeast Asia Market in Sembcorp Industries Ltd to lead the development of the supply chain strategy for selected categories. This is to support downstream sourcing and purchase of goods, materials, and services to ensure that the company’s operational needs are met, considering price, quality, and delivery to ensure continuity of supply.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead the development of the procurement strategy for EPC, renewable power plants and associated components in Singapore and Southeast Asia regions to support the various business units within the regions
• Periodically reviewing and refreshing the procurement strategy by monitoring market trends, competitor strategies and new suppliers
• Deliver value-add to the business units through the downstream sourcing activity by deploying the developed procurement strategy
• Monitor and advise on any issues which present risk or opportunity to the organization
• Provide analysis on costs for new and existing suppliers, and review cost reduction activities
• Build, maintain and manage supplier relationships on behalf of the organisation
• Following and enforcing Sembcorp’s procurement policies and procedures, support the functions and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations
• Source and purchase goods, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets
• Negotiate contracts such as framework agreements, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers
• Review opportunities to create business savings via negotiation and procurement best practices
• Prepare cost analyses and reports

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related field with minimally 8 years of sourcing/procurement experience, with a focus on strategic sourcing
• Experience in negotiating of vendor contracts including EPC contracts, supply agreements and long term service agreements
• Relevant experience in utilities and renewables industry is preferred
• Knowledge of SAP Material Management (MM) modules will be preferrable
