JOB DESCRIPTION
Subject teachers are informed, reflective practitioners who use inquiry-based teaching strategies to create positive learning environments that motivate and challenge learners to become proactive, life-long learners and leaders.
As a member of our Individuals & Societies team, you will be teaching groups of learners between years 7 to 13 (ages 11 to 18). We deliver the IB MYP, IGCSE (Edexcel), and IBDP across the Secondary school.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Employing effective pedagogy that enables children to become successful and self-regulated learners who achieve personal excellence by:
- Building learning-focused relationships;
- Empowering children to become independent learners;
- Using appropriate assessment tools for formative and summative assessment;
- Using assessment information to plan progression;
- Providing high-quality scaffolding and feedback to learners;
- Encouraging learners to reflect on their learning;
- Engaging learners in setting learning goals;
- Involving parents in their children’s learning through learner-led conferences and regular parent-teacher dialogue;
- Employing and integrating IT to enhance learning;
- Supporting learners to solve authentic problems related to real-world situations;
- Collaborating positively within a team and across teams;
- Meeting the Nexus Teacher Professional Standards, aspiring to grow and develop and being committed to professional learning;
- Involvement in whole-school events and activities as required;
- Working with learners as a form tutor as assigned, helping them set and achieve personal goals.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, B.Ed., or equivalent)
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher qualification) in Geography, Environmental Studies, or a related field
- Evidence of continued relevant professional development
- Experience working with bilingual and multilingual learners and learners with diverse needs
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in an international school environment where the school curriculum focused on IBMYP, IGCSE or IBDP (preferred).
