Job Summary:

The Singapore Organisation of Seamen is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join as Manager of our External and Industrial Relations Division. This role requires strong communication and organisational skills, along with an understanding of local, national and international labour laws, employment standards, and collective bargaining agreements.

The ideal candidate needs to have a passion for fostering positive industrial relations and advocating better working conditions, fair pay and safety standards for union members.

This is a full-time and permanent position reporting directly to our senior leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in external engagement efforts with industry stakeholders, unions, and government bodies to promote bipartite and tripartite relationships.
• Address labor disputes and participate in mediation processes.
• Stay updated on trends in the maritime industry, industrial relations and employment laws.
• Collaborate with internal departments to align industrial relations strategies with the organisation’s broader objectives.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and communication materials related to external relations.
• Travel when necessary for overseas assignments.

• Lead the team in executing electrical work during the construction phase, including cable tray installation, cable pulling, panel installation, cable termination, and testing/commissioning for MV/LV switchgear, transformers, UPS, DCIS/HMI, etc.
• Monitor and inspect construction activities to ensure compliance with design documents.
• Manage a team comprising supervisors, sub-contractors, and vendors.
• Responsible for electrical interfaces with the operational team, conducting meetings, and providing technical clarifications.
• Investigate and troubleshoot electrical switchgear faults or failures, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Analyze and enhance equipment reliability to prevent recurrence, collaborating with operation groups and external contractors.
• Prepare documentation for maintenance work, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and utilizing appropriate Method Statements and Risk Assessments, meeting BCA requirements.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure systems, equipment, and rooms align with internal customers' needs.
• Review inspection and testing plans for electrical and instrument system installations through relevant checklists.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure the smooth completion of projects.
• Ensuring each stage of the project happens on time, on budget and to a high standard.
• Liaising with staff at every level.
• Sharing regular progress report with top management team
• Working in an office or onsite.
