Who we are looking for

Corporate Compliance is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable ESG Compliance Officer for APAC, Assistant Vice President, to oversee and ensure APAC compliance with Sustainability (Environmental, Social, and Governance) regulations regionally, including responsibility for testing and reporting of applicable laws, rules, regulatory guidance, and internal policy requirements. Key responsibilities:
As ESG Compliance Officer for APAC, Assistant Vice President, you will:

• Support the development of a firm wide ESG compliance program, accounting for APAC ESG regulatory requirements, and manage the execution of monitoring and testing activities while providing insights on proportionate risk mitigation approaches in the implementation of ESG requirements.
• Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the firm’s ESG compliance framework, ensuring its alignment with the interpretations of applicable law, regulations, regulatory guidance, and industry standards through creating traceability and mapping documents.

• Apply the bank’s testing methodology and create testing workpapers to evaluate the effectiveness of existing financial crimes frameworks including the design and implementation of relevant controls across the AML, Sanctions and ABC framework.
• Work closely with key stakeholders to understand business and functional requirements and support team leads in developing test plans, scripts, procedures, and sampling methodologies that incorporate regulatory expectations, industry developments, lessons learned from regulatory findings and internally identified issues by compliance testing and internal audit.
• Engage review stakeholders during testing reviews and provide credible challenge to ensure financial crimes controls are adequately evaluated.
• Play a leading role in financial crimes related projects and engage with global and regional compliance management in the implementation of a coordinated, consistent, and risk-based testing program.
• Assist in developing and maintaining quality control processes to drive adherence to Global Testing Standards.
• Drive central coordination, governance, and reporting, leveraging regional structures and best practices.
• Apply in-depth subject matter and industry expertise in preparing/reviewing reports summarizing the objectives, scope, findings, and conclusions of completed testing.
• Support management in the validation of Management Action Plans designed to address remediation efforts and testing review findings.
• Play a leading role in coordinating with Issues Management for monitoring and tracking resolution of testing findings, including validating actions taken to resolve previously identified issues.
• Monitor developments, such as changes in the regulatory environment, financial crime/core compliance risks and industry developments which may necessitate ad hoc testing.
• Play a key role in the development and enhancements to testing methodology, standards and procedures, Annual Test Plan, and testing tools.
• Support general compliance activities and other duties, including special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Degree Qualified
• Minimum 5 years’ experience, in the financial crimes compliance or core compliance area of a global bank, consulting firm, or regulatory agency.
• Experience with performing compliance testing, assurance processes or internal/external audits.
• Knowledge of financial crimes compliance or core compliance laws and regulations.
• Excellent judgment and analytical skills.
• Experience in working in diverse teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) Certification is a plus. A qualified Chartered Accountant preferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION

- Customer AML/KYC CDD review for high risk and medium risk on deposit account holders including new or existing individual and entity customers.

- Review transaction monitoring alerts for plausibility/suspicion and documentation of its results.

- Periodic quality assurance testing on disposition of real-time transactions’ sanctions & related screening alerts & deliver its results for review.

- Assist in RFI (request for info) correspondence with internal or external stakeholders.

- Investigate, prepare information and if necessary put up recommendation to file / not file Suspicious Transaction Reporting (“STR”) & assess for any violation of sanctions regulations.

- Participate in Compliance Committee Meeting if there is a potential Suspicious Transaction Reporting (STR) case being raised.

- STR submitter in SONAR system and record keeping of the related documents.

- Update and maintains STR register.

- Assist (upon receipt of Head Office’s circular on countries risk ratings updates) to update & maintain the internal system database for operational use

- Review periodic name screening results upon delta change or incremental update in watch/sanction list(s).

- Check on media sweep hits to ensure they are properly disposed and documented

- Coordinate and prepare the MAS AML annual survey’s returns for review.

- Assist to prepare monthly MIS report to Head Office (input for transaction/screening alerts’ count).

1. Compliance Monitoring & Reporting

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Compliance, Finance, Law, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years in a compliance, administrative, or similar support role, ideally within a regulated industry (e.g., finance, healthcare).
