1. JOB PURPOSE
The job-holder is responsible to ensure personalised and cost-effective care is provided by nursing staff to patients in accordance to established policies and procedures, standards of nursing care and practices. Responsible for the effective and efficient running of the ward/department assigned.
2. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
2.1 Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)
2.1.1 Oversees the team of RN/EN, NA/HA under her charge.
2.1.2 Responsible for compliance of all nursing standards as stipulated by MOH and SNB.
2.1.3 Leads quality assurance activities to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care of the ward.
2.1.4 Ensures quality audits are planned, conducted periodically and follow up with corrective improvements.
2.1.5 Ensures written policies and SOP is available and up to date to guide nursing practices.
2.1.6 Provides direct care to patients to ensure compliance to standards.
2.1.7 Ensures smooth transition of residents from acute to chronic care and back to community where possible.
2.1.8 Ensures appropriate skill mix and adequate manpower resourcing for all shifts and types of services for area under his/her purview.
2.1.9 Directs and facilitates staff development, skills and competency upgrading through in-house training, approved online learning or formal education opportunities.
2.1.10 Guides orientation/induction programmes and preceptorship for all new staff.
1.1.1 Prepares roster and daily staff assignment for the ward/department.
1.1.2 Supports the SNM in nursing home management and deputizes her in her absence.
1.1.3 Works with Allied Health on preventive and rehabilitative programs for the
Residents
1.2. Secondary Responsibilities and duties (20%)
1.2.1 Promotes evidence-based practices or nursing care delivery.
1.2.2 Demonstrates awareness of current nursing and health care practices.
2.2.3 Monitors and analyses trends and changing needs of patients in institutional
settings.
2.2.4 Carries out any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
3. JOB SPECIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Qualifications and Experience
3.1.1 Locally Trained Registered Nurse with Advanced Diploma in Nursing/ Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent preferred.
3.1.2 Foreign Trained Registered Nurse with Degree or Diploma in Nursing with Board Pass (Professional Regulation Council, PRC).
3.1.3 Registration with Singapore Nursing Board.
