Responsibilities:

• Ensure high teaching and academic standards so to increase retention and accelerate student progression.
• Establish/ensure compliance with education policies and promote a culture of life-long learning.
• Prepare and present yearly budget for Council’s approval and manage Institutes’ resources within budget guidelines and to set policies in accordance with current laws and regulations.
• Responsible for Risk analysis and Business continuity management.
• Adhere to all legislative requirements pertaining to education in Singapore and the respective territories and comply with all regulatory requirements of the Committee for Private Education (CPE) and SkillsFuture Singapore.

Requirements:

• Minimum Masters in Business Administration
• Must have around 20+ years of working experience of which at least 15 years of experience is in the Education industry, preferably with proven skills in designing strategies for business growth and expansion and proven track record in growth and expansion of higher education institutions
• Should have directly managed P&L operations in the education business, of at least $50 million with a proven history of sustained revenue growth
• Must be a current operational executive (CEO, President, GM, MD, etc.), with a significant number of years as a Executive Director
• Demonstrated entrepreneurial drive with excellent business acumen including financial management, personnel administration, and regulatory compliance
• Experienced and efficient leader with exemplary work ethics and excellent collaboration and people skills with proven ability to build a strong management team
• You shall be located in the Institute’s office(s) in Singapore. A fair amount of travelling is required for this position

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead in the development and execution of communications projects, initiatives and global media partnerships in support of SMU’s engaged city university strategic thrust.
• Enhancing SMU’s brand and reputation regionally through the University’s overseas centres, the role will provide support through strategic communications and media publicity planning, and work with partners on the execution of plans.
• Develop compelling content that clearly conveys the meaningful impact SMU makes through its education, research and global engagement, with focus on its three strategic priorities to realise SMU Vision 2025.
• Internal communications, the role will develop strategic plans, write and oversee the preparation of SMU President’s communications to the University community.
• Oversee the creative conceptualising, planning and production of the University’s annual report and corporate newsletter.
• Other duties include conducting research, developing, writing and editing a wide variety of materials including quotes, video scripts, speeches, talking points, background materials, narratives, opinion-editorial and thought leadership pieces.
• Principal Counsel on comms and media publicity matters to School of Accountancy and School of Social Sciences, and to Office of Partnerships and Engagement and its affiliate offices, Office of Overseas Centres and its affiliate offices, Office of Advancement, SMU Libraries and Dato’ Kho Hui Meng Career Centre.

• A bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, literature, communications, creative writing, or a similar discipline.
• A master’s degree is preferable.
• Keen interest in current affairs, and geopolitical and socio-economic issues and is also intellectually curious.
• Positive attitude with the ability to pivot quickly to changes.
• A good understanding of public speaking, aware of language subtleties and always crafts speeches as well as messages with the audience in mind.

[What the role is]

The Strategic System Department spearheads the development and operation of strategic pan-NEA systems in support of its operational objectives by leveraging WOG or best-in-class technology. The department also governs and manages key sensor networks to support NEA’s operational resiliency and transformation in alignment with WOG initiatives. This entails working closely with key stakeholders to harness synergies in both internal and WOG systems to introduce proven technologies into Ops processes for enhanced operational excellence. Critical work involves the conceptualisation, development, operationalisation and management of strategic systems to support and sustain new operating models.

You will take the role of Business Architect who oversee the Ops-Tech integration and design throughout multiple pan-NEA system life-cycle. As part of the programme team comprising system owners, field operation officers and IT professionals, you ensure implementation across multiple operation domains achieve the expected business outcome. You will focus on the continuous design evolution of the system in alignment with Whole-of-Government (WOG) initiatives and source for best-fit technology solutions. You possess strong WOG collaborative acumen and relevant industry knowledge of best practices.
