To execute tasks and assigned functions as delegated by the Managing Director
Identify and pursue chartering opportunities in the tonnage market in the global for dry bulk vessels.
Negotiate and secure long-term charter contracts with reputable clients, ensuring favorable terms and conditions.
Monitor market trends and assess charter rates to make informed decisions on chartering strategies.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders in the shipping industry.
Collaborate with the operations and commercial teams to optimize vessel utilization and ensure smooth chartering operations.
Analyze market conditions, including supply and demand dynamics, vessel availability, and freight rates, to make data-driven decisions.
Manage H&M (Hull and Machinery), PNI (Protection and Indemnity), FD&D (Freight Demurrage & Defence) and other insurance covers for company’s fleet; Ensure all claims are filed with relevant insurers in a timely manner; Coordinate with relevant insurers to process various marine claims (hull, cargo, crew & related P&I claims);
Provide market intelligence and contribute to the development of chartering strategies and business plans.
Conduct regular performance evaluations of chartered vessels, review voyage economics, and identify areas for improvement.
Manage contracts and ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and operational requirements.
Stay updated on industry developments, regulations, and best practices related to dry bulk chartering.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as operations, bunkering, marine accounting, and legal to support chartering activities effectively.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferably a Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Business Administration, or related field.
Proven experience as a Chartering Manager in the dry bulk shipping industry in the global region, preferably having had a specific focus on tonnage.
Strong understanding of the dry bulk shipping market, including vessel types, cargo types, and trade routes.
Demonstrated ability to negotiate and secure long-term charter contracts with a track record of successful outcomes.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and make informed decisions.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Strong commercial acumen and a results-oriented mindset.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities.
Proficient in using shipping software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools.
Fluent skills in English, other languages such as Mandarin is an added advantage.
