Corporate Technology is a global organization that collaborates with TE BUs on advanced technologies and the SG Corporate Technology team focuses on innovation solutions through partnerships and ecosystem.

We are seeking a team member with strong background in polymer engineering to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with expertise in engineering plastics and rubbers with interest to drive innovation and change through whitepaper/landscaping advisories, research projects, and tech scouting. The application fields will be both traditional areas of formulation and processing and metrology for connectors, cables and microfluidics, as well as emerging topics related to trends in smart materials, sustainability and AI.

Job Responsibilities:

• Engage TE BUs to identify and address technical needs related to engineering plastics and rubbers.
• Develop a deep understanding of engineering plastics and rubbers through comprehensive reviews, experimental trials, and tech scouting.
• Lead partnership research activities related to characterization, formulation, and processing of plastics and rubbers, for connectors, sealants, cables and microfluidics (as needed).
• Author whitepapers, technology landscaping reports, and advisory documents to support TE’s strategic objectives and technology development. Launch proof-of-concept projects as appropriate.
• Manage projects from initial concept through execution, including scope definition, partner selection, and project management to achieve technical and business goals.
• Oversee internal project documentation and compliance matters, including contracts, budget tracking, and technical reporting.
• Represent SG team in various forums, including technical conferences (internal & external) and senior management presentations, to share knowledge and innovations in polymer engineering.
• Collaborate with other TE polymer centers of innovation to drive alignment of SG activities.

Job Requirements:

• Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Polymer Engineering, Material Science, or a related field.
• 5-8 years of experience in R&D or product development, with a focus on engineering plastics and rubbers. Demonstrated expertise in material characterization, formulation, and processing.
• Proven experience in leading technical projects involving advanced polymers and rubbers in an industrial or corporate setting.
• Familiarity with tools and methodologies related to polymer engineering, such as material characterization techniques, formulation strategies, and processing technologies.
• Experience scouting technology state-of-art through literature, patent landscapes, or conferences
• Knowledge of engineering PjM (scope, deliverables mgmt.) and technical tools (e.g. moldflow, FA, RCA)
• Effective in verbal/written forms communication.
• Experience or certification with contract law will be advantageous.

• Support the STS in the development of risk assessment, creation of job safety assessment and participate in HAZOP when required.
• Develop Standard Operating Procedures as part of change control and perform periodic review.
• Assist in all commissioning, qualification and validation activities as necessary.
• Participate as a member of the emergency response team (ERT) when necessary.

• Develop Manufacturing / Operating Instructions and necessary Standard Operating Procedures.
• Develop, maintain, review and troubleshoot the process control system recipe / models. Guide process engineer in team for the process control system recipe / models development.
• Investigate, report and troubleshoot findings on both quality and EHS related issues observed during manufacturing or during batch record review. Participate or lead quality / safety investigations and implement any corrective and preventive actions from these investigations.
• Develop, implement and monitor robust preventive measures for processing issues.
• Lead/ part of cross functional team for product transfer of new product on site and interface with above site and transferring sites to ensure flawless transfer of product to site.

• Provide operating instruction and process training to different audiences such as operations, process team, quality operations and engineering.
• Own one or more multiple equipment / GMP systems in production and present the system overview with evidence compliance to internal and external auditors.
• Train the process technicians on the process and procedures as required.
• Ensure adherence to approved procedures and update procedures as required, including the principles and practices of good data management (ALCOA)
• Focus on Safety and GMP Compliance as operational priorities and as performance measures.
• Accountable for the Good Data Management and Data integrity understanding and performance.
• Report and investigate actions or behaviors that may negatively impact the desired outcome of the GMP process or activity.
• Play an active and impactful role to deliver flawless execution for respective PCTs (e.g. API, MS, QO, Leadership, Engineering) by updating performance against metrics, highlighting & resolving issues with appropriate escalations
