Job Description

SIA-NUS Digital Aviation Lab at the National University of Singapore (NUS) offers an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Research Engineer (UX Designer/Researcher) within Work Package 4. The work package focuses on developing innovations in the following key strategic areas related to passengers’ inflight experience, mainly in Enhancements to SIA’s Cabin Seat Product Offerings, Novel Features for SIA’s Next Generation Aircraft Cabins for Sleep Improvement and Pushing SIA’s Superior Customer Experience to New Heights with an Advanced Connected Cabin.

The duties and responsibilities for this role includes working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and execute strategies that ensure the successful delivery of project goals outlined in the brief. As a UX Designer, you will be responsible fin supporting the team in developing innovative, desirable, and feasible design solutions and concepts that meet the business needs while bringing customer experiences to greater heights. One of the key role is to conduct research and develop new framework and strategies in new area of interest as identified by the PI.

As a UX Designer/Researcher, your key responsibility will be:

• Support the development of current and new projects.
• Conduct research and develop frameworks in new topics of interest as identify by the PI.
• Develop strategies such as probes, workshops, or teaching platforms to test and develop these frameworks.
• Conduct probes, workshops and teaching activities above.
• Data collections
• Assist PI in collating research material for communication and publication.
• Assist in conducting studies and experiments when necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial Design, Design, Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology or related disciplines.

• Previously worked in projects related to delivering better customer experience or UI/UX experience is a plus.
• Proficient with prototyping software such as Figma, Adobe XD. Ability to CAD and handle 3D prototype is a bonus.
• Ability to conduct secondary research. Ability to analyze and syntheses research materials.
• Good writing and presentation skills.
• Openness to critique from other disciplines.
• Have empathy and curiosity for how great brands, businesses and organization navigate innovation and design.
• Experience with unique and novel research tools, methods of uncovering key insights, and proposing of new concepts.

• Follow the Project Management Process from award until handover including all statutory requirements and deliverables
• Develop comprehensive project plan for multiple projects
• Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget.
• Coordinate and be involved in pre-& post tender survey for SED/ ordering and pre-con survey on the existing building (applicable to MOD projects only).
• Sell variation orders timely to reach financial objectives.
• Provide regular project management reports for management during Work in progress (WIP) review.
• Directs and coordinates activities of project team which includes attend site meeting, involve in all internal and external inspection / handover of projects for public use with no critical defects and place order for spare parts via spare parts finder database.
• Attend monthly Work in Progress (WIP) meeting with Commercial and EI Finance Controller.
• Coordinate daily activities and resolve technical problems internally with factory, Sales Engineering Department, Drawing Office and externally with our suppliers and contractors.
• Manage cost and pre-empt / highlight potential cost overrun and late delivery of project.
• Demonstrate safety leadership, conduct periodically quality walks, safety walks and safety inspections.
• Responsible for the employee and subcontractor safety compliance at project sites and conducting safety walks on regular basis

About the Role:
We are seeking a motivated System Engineer with passion for Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. If you thrive on technical challenges, possess strong problem-solving abilities, and want to contribute to impactful projects in the energy sector, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot server software, hardware, and network-related issues using Linux-based tools
• Install and troubleshoot VMWare or other virtual machines
• Configure and optimise SCADA/DCS/EMS/ESS systems
• Plan, procure, implement, test, and commission EMS/SCADA systems
• Collaborate with the China-based development team

Technical Skills Required:

• Proficiency in MySQL and Linux

Requirements:

• Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic/Computer/Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Self-motivated, independent, and a team player
• On-the-job training provided
• Fresh graduate with the right attitude are welcome

Preferred qualifications:

• Mandarin proficiency (preferred for collaboration with China-based teams but not mandatory)
• Driving licence (may need to travel to Jurong Island for site visits)
