Key accountability (Main purpose of this job):
Reporting to the Head of Technology, the IT Infrastructure and Operations Manager will oversee the school's IT infrastructure, network services, and desktop support operations. This individual will ensure a secure, reliable, and high-performing technology environment that supports the educational, administrative, and extracurricular needs of students, faculty, and staff. The role involves managing IT operation teams, coordinating with vendors, and supporting strategies to improve technology integration and support services within the school.
Experience working in K-12 education settings or international schools. Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and Student Information Systems (SIS) (e.g. iSAMS). Familiarity with educational technology tools (e.g., Google Classroom, Managebac).
Responsibilities (Key areas of Responsibilities):
Infrastructure Management and Operations
- Design, implement, and maintain the school's IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, firewalls, and wireless access points across multiple campuses.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability of internet and systems required for online learning platforms.
- Manage storage solutions, backups, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and continuity.
- Ensure infrastructure security, including patch management, antivirus updates, and cybersecurity protocols.
Desktop and End-User Support
- Oversee desktop, laptop, tablet, and mobile device management for students, teachers, and administrative staff.
- Manage a helpdesk system to ensure timely resolution of hardware and software issues.
- Develop and implement policies for IT asset management (inventory tracking, device replacement cycles).
- Ensure seamless integration of classroom technology (interactive whiteboards, projectors, documents, etc.).
- Monitor software licensing and subscriptions to ensure compliance.
IT Strategy and Vendor Management
- Collaborate with school leadership to develop and implement long-term IT strategies aligned with the school’s educational goals.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers for hardware, software, and network services.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and solutions to enhance learning and administrative efficiency.
Team Leadership and Coordination
- Lead and manage the IT support team, providing training and professional development to ensure high performance.
- Coordinate with faculty and staff to understand technology needs and provide proactive solutions.
- Develop workflows and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for IT service delivery.
- Ensure timely and effective communication with stakeholders during outages or scheduled maintenance.
Compliance, Safety, and Documentation
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., PDPA) and other legal standards relevant to schools.
- Maintain detailed documentation of IT systems, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure that all equipment and systems are properly configured for student safety (e.g., web filtering, access controls).
- Monitor and enforce acceptable use policies (ANUP) for students and staff to maintain a safe digital environment.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and operations management, preferably in an education environment.
- Strong knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), firewalls, and wireless infrastructure.
- Experience with Microsoft, Google, and Apple ecosystems (e.g., Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft 365, Apple MDM).
- Proficiency in managing Windows, MacOS, and ChromeOS devices.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and non-technical staff.
- Ability to multitask, prioritise, and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
