A Lab Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of a laboratory. This includes ensuring the safety and proper functioning of the lab. The following is a more detailed description of the responsibilities and duties of a Lab Manager:

Responsibilities:

1. Lab Safety: Ensure that the laboratory meets all safety regulations and standards. Develop and implement safety protocols, train staff on safety procedures, and monitor compliance.
2. Equipment Management: Oversee the maintenance, calibration, and repair of laboratory equipment. Keep inventory of supplies and reagents, and order replacements as needed.
3. Procure: Responsible for the ordering of laboratory reagents and consumables and the supervision of their daily use.
4. Compliance: Ensure that the laboratory complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and ethical guidelines. Maintain records and documentation as required.
5. Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement in laboratory operations and procedures and implement changes to increase efficiency and productivity. Stay up to date with new technologies and developments in the field.
6. Other Lab Work: Assist researchers in preparing routine experimental materials required for experiments, such as sharing reagent preparation and medium dispensing, etc.

Requirements:

1. A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant scientific field, such as biology, chemistry.
2. Several years of experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in a lab management role.
3. Strong knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulations.

1. Lab Management

• Manage the laboratory's daily operations and analyzing of the precious metals content using scientific ways and any other duties related to the role.
• Manage laboratory set-ups including procurement and placement of all consumables, equipment, and fixtures.
• General maintenance of equipment and housekeeping of the laboratory.
• Monitoring the safety compliance of all lab consumables, equipment, and fixtures.
• Setting of the laboratory monthly and quarterly operational budget and monitor the budget closely.
• Responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of all analytical and laboratory equipment.

2. Lab Sampling

• Instruct team members to prepare and do testing of precious metals laden samples from spent auto catalysts, electronic waste, gold refining etc on time and responsible for the test results.

3. Lab SOP

• Development of company’s Standard Operating Procedures for the testing and analysis.

4. Development & Implementation of new research.

• In charge of the gold & silver testing, drive the identification of testing and analytical methodologies for the testing and refining of base and precious metals from Spent catalysts, jewelries, and other precious metals laden scrap.
• Manage ICP & XRF and New Research and development of analytical and recovery methods and procedures.
• Work with the business team and other team members to support the development of capability and skill set to perform sample analysis of Precious Metals and determine the most efficient recovery strategy.
• Responsible for the development and implementation of gold and silver testing and refining technologies, ensure that the laboratory testing and refining level meet the market transaction standards.

5. Management of Team

• Involved in the recruitment (Interviewing) & retention of Lab staff and their skills upgrading.

Educational & Professional Qualifications

• At least Bachelor’s Degree in chemistry or any other equivalent qualifications.
• Minimum 5 years of working experience in of laboratory management experience.

Relevant Experience

• Familiar with ICP & XRF detection precious metal technology and have no less than 3 years of ICP & XRF laboratory testing experience.
• Master gold and silver detection and recovery and refining technology will be an added advantage.
• Have experience in setting up and overseeing up ICP & XRF Testing lab including the license application from the relevant authorities.
• Have experience choose and setting up of equipment and processes to recover precious metals recovery including gold, silver, platinum, palladium is an advantage. Best if he or she is experienced in recovery rhodium.
• Experience in ISO renewals will be an added advantage.
• Must be able to converse and read well in English.

The Quality Control (QC) lab plays a crucial role in ensuring quality and consistency of incoming and outgoing materials. The successful candidate will manage the lab and quality assurance department for the Singapore plant. Some of the key job responsibilities include:

· Oversee day-to-day lab operations and ensure a laboratory operates smoothly by managing staff, reordering supplies, and maintaining all security protocols and documents.

· Own and update lab-related documents e.g., standard operating procedures (SOP), risk assessments, work instructions, laboratory records, etc. according to Singapore’s Environmental Health Safety and Quality (EHSQ) guidelines, other prevailing regulations, and industry standards.

· Perform laboratory maintenance, audit, and certification/accreditation.

· Identify, implement, and execute inspection, testing, and evaluation methods to ensure incoming materials, products, and production equipment adhere to quality standards.

· Lead quality projects including but not limited to facility certification (ISO9001).

· Develop quality control standard operating procedures.

Job requirement

· A bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, or another related field.
