Junior Market Research Analyst
Role Description
The executive role will be part of our in-house market research arm that provides freight market analysis and actionable intelligence to the other business units (ship broking, S&P and finance) and their clients.
Tasks and responsibilities:
• Compile market news and data, generate daily, weekly & monthly market reports
• Play an active role in further developing and automating routines, procedures used for processing various type of market-related data
• Develop recognized-expertise in specific commodity and shipping markets
• Conduct commercially relevant fundamental and quantitative analysis to support the production of actionable intelligence
• Keep track of the latest market developments, develop price views and provide related communication and recommendations to commercial teams
• Any other ad-hoc duties as assigned
Profile - qualifications and capabilities:
• Recent graduate (0-3 years work experience) with University degree or proven equivalent qualification in Engineering, Natural Sciences or Maritime Studies
• Understanding of basic financial concepts and financial/commodity markets through course(s) or job experience(s)
• Computer literacy and experience in MS Office
• Computer programming skills (e.g. VBA, MATLAB or Python), database management and data analysis/modelling skills
• International exposure
• Fluent in written and spoken English. Other languages such as Mandarin, Italian or French strongly preferred
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with various internal and external stakeholders
• Enjoy working in a small and demanding environment and able to perform under pressure
• Diligent, result oriented, independent and self-motivated, highly reliable and readiness to take on responsibility
• US/Canadian citizenship or valid work permit for the USA
