Job Scope:
As a Senior Physiotherapist at our nursing home, you will assume a leadership role in providing high-quality physiotherapy services to our residents. Your primary responsibility will be to assess, plan, and deliver comprehensive rehabilitation programs to promote functional independence and enhance the overall well-being of our residents. Through your clinical expertise, leadership, and compassion, you will contribute to the success of our physiotherapy department and the optimal care of our residents.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Resident Assessment and Treatment Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of residents' physical conditions, functional abilities, and rehabilitation needs. Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessments, goals, and evidence-based practice, considering resident preferences and medical history.
· Rehabilitation Interventions: Provide hands-on physiotherapy treatments, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, gait training, and modalities, to residents. Monitor progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and ensure optimal outcomes.
· Pain Management: Assess and manage residents' pain through various techniques, such as therapeutic exercises, electrotherapy, and heat/cold therapy. Educate residents and their families on pain management strategies and self-care techniques.
· Team Leadership and Supervision: Provide guidance, mentorship, and supervision to junior physiotherapy staff, ensuring adherence to best practices, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Foster a positive work environment and encourage professional growth and development.
· Rehabilitation Program Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based rehabilitation programs and protocols. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care and continuity of treatment.
· Patient Education and Counseling: Educate residents and their families on rehabilitation goals, treatment plans, and home exercise programs. Provide counseling and support to enhance residents' understanding, motivation, and compliance with therapy interventions.
· Assistive Devices and Equipment: Assess residents' need for assistive devices, such as walkers, wheelchairs, and orthotics. Provide recommendations, training, and support in the proper use of equipment to optimize mobility and independence.
· Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
· Collaborative Approach: Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, and speech therapists, to provide coordinated and comprehensive care. Contribute to care planning, team meetings, and interdisciplinary communication.
· Professional Development: Stay updated with current research, best practices, and advancements in physiotherapy. Pursue continuing education opportunities, participate in professional organizations, and share knowledge and expertise with colleagues.
Requirements & Qualifications:
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution.
· Valid license or registration to practice as a physiotherapist in the appropriate jurisdiction.
· Proven experience as a physiotherapist, preferably in a geriatric or long-term care setting.
· In-depth knowledge of physiotherapy principles, techniques, and evidence- based practice.
· Strong assessment and treatment planning skills, with the ability to develop individualized care plans.
· Leadership and supervisory experience, with the ability to mentor and guide junior staff.
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
· Compassion, empathy, and patience in working with residents with diverse physical and cognitive abilities.
· Strong documentation and record-keeping skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
· Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality improvement initiatives in healthcare.
· Physical stamina and the ability to perform physical therapy techniques and interventions.
· Proficiency in using therapeutic equipment and assistive devices.
· Commitment to maintaining resident confidentiality and privacy.
Work Location: West Coast / Tampines
Work Hours: 8am to 6pm (5/5.5 days / 44 hours a week)
Must have at least a minimum of 2-3 years of prior experience working in a similar capacity in Singapore.
