[What you will be working on]

You will be involved in the following duties:

• Managing biosecurity risks associated with the import, transhipment and quarantine of animals and animal products. This includes:

- Conducting biosecurity inspections and surveillance of animals and animal products

- Carrying out risk assessments for movement of animals and animal products through Singapore

- Oversee daily operations at Changi Animal and Plant Quarantine (CAPQ)

- Managing non-compliances detected during import inspections

• Working and communicating with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders such as importers and overseas government organisations on the import/transhipment/export of animals and animal products

• Plan, lead and implement biosecurity projects from ideation to implementation

• Contribute to the development and innovation to improve service delivery in CAPQ

• Other administrative duties as required to ensure daily functioning of CAPQ

[What we are looking for]

• Degree in Biological Science, Veterinary Science, Veterinary Medicine, or other related fields.

• Previous experience working in animal or veterinary related industry will be an advantage.

• Comfortable with handling live animals (dogs, cats, birds, small mammals, poultry, horses etc.).

• Team player with initiative, drive, good interpersonal/communication skills, and able to work independently.

• Good IT and data analytical skills would be an advantage.

Office Location:

• The office location will be at Changi Animal and Plant Quarantine, Gate C7, Airport Cargo Road, Changi Airfreight Centre.

• Ensure accurate and timely billing and collection of revenue.

• Be involved in bank reconciliation and system access related matters.

Responsibilities

You will be part of a dynamic media relations team that spearheads strategic and integrated communications efforts to profile NParks and Singapore - our City in Nature. Specifically, you will be developing and implementing plans and initiatives to create awareness of NParks and a greater appreciation of its projects, programmes and causes.  You will work closely with the media to explore fresh angles and develop interesting stories.  Apart from drafting media releases, talking points and speeches, you will also be expected to anticipate, propose and manage responses to issues concerning the organization through various publicity platforms.  Beyond media relations, you will also have opportunities to work on various content deliverables such as videos, webinars and long form articles for both NParks and external platforms. As a key member of the NParks communications team, you will also play an active role in providing communications consul on corporate events in addition to other public communications projects.

Requirements

• Areas of study:  Mass Communications, Marketing, English, English Literature, Social Sciences or related discipline with at least 1-year relevant integrated communications experience

[What you will be working on]

Under our City in Nature vision, you will be responsible for the curation of selected parks and park connectors in the western region of Singapore to provide a safe and pleasant experience for park visitors, and to bring park visitors closer to nature. Your work will also require keen interest and knowledge in nature and greenery to carry out landscape and infrastructure development/maintenance works. You will also implement a range of activities involving the community, including programming, education and outreach,  tree-planting events, as well as various habitat enhancement projects.

• Degree in Horticulture, Landscape Design, Environmental Science or related discipline

• Enjoy working outdoors, doing field work and interacting with people

• Keen interest in nature, plants, greenery and environmental horticulture

• Able to work independently and multi-task in performing a diverse range of duties, including operations, community engagement, programming and enforcement (e.g. Parks and Trees Regulations, etc) when required

[What you will be working on]

The successful applicant shall be a core member of a team that provides technical inputs to agencies on impacts affecting terrestrial biodiversity. He/she will administer the biodiversity impact assessment process for terrestrial sites by (i) conducting field surveys or secondary research to assess the biodiversity of specific sites; and (ii) working with agencies to engage Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) consultants to carry out the required environmental studies. The successful applicant will also be expected to spearhead, initiate and implement conservation programmes and collaborate with research and tertiary institutions on research projects that contribute to terrestrial conservation.

This position will require working closely with colleagues and other stakeholders to achieve NParks' terrestrial conservation goals.

[What we are looking for]

• Degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Life Sciences, Biology, or related discipline

• Preferably with relevant experience in forest-related issues such as ecology or management policy

• Good presentation, negotiation and communication skills are essential

• Organized and resourceful team player who is able to work independently for outdoor field work in varied conditions

• Experience and knowledge in environmental management, policy, animal and plant taxonomy, or Geographic Information System (GIS) will be advantageous
