The intern will work in the Production department of Keystone Cable factory. He will report to the Plant Manager (mentor) and work alongside engineers / technicians to identify opportunities for factory operations efficiency and productivity improvement.
Expected tasks / responsibilities
- Job shadow / On-job training, OJT of Production Engineer to understand cable manufacturing process.
- Problem understanding of current methods of manual production data collection with the intent of improving the process flow and to digitize where possible.
- Data acquisition of shop floor data to set baseline targets for production improvement
- Research and testing of hypothesis on production parameters we want to improve
- Project management of one or two projects to improve factory productivity / efficiency using existing or acquired skillsets.
Learning outcomes and objectives
- To allow intern to gain a good understanding of the work and responsibilities of a production engineer in a factory.
- To project manage one or two projects that tackle factory productivity and efficiency problem statements.
- To apply and extend intern’s skillsets on shop floor data collection and analysis with the objective of improving existing factory systems.
- To allow company and intern to assess compatibility for potential collaboration opportunities in the future.
Requirements

Technical requirements: Industrial control and automation, Power systems, PLC systems, Basic programming skills will be a plus: Python, SQL database. MS Office proficiency
