Responsibilities
- Assists the Senior Manager in managing the safe, effective and efficient preparation, cleaning
and repair of passenger trains so that the required number of trains is continuously provided
for passenger service
- Manages, leads and motivates a group of Senior / Assistant Engineers and Senior / Technicians
in the corrective and preventive maintenance of the DTL passenger trains
- Provides technical investigations and analyze structural, system or component problems on
rolling stock and recommend solutions and trials
- Leads the reliability growth programme for DTL passenger trains
- Supervises and co-ordinates implementation of modification works and fleet-wide checks
- Monitors the performance of trial modifications and prepare reports recommending adoption
or rejection of fleet-wide implementation
- Identifies staff’s training needs and implement training schemes. Identifies any hazards and
implement control measures
- Maintains maintenance records and documentation in accordance with quality standards and
procedures
- Act as Duty Rolling Stock Engineer on 24-hour call when required
- Carry out any other tasks assigned by Senior Manager and Deputy/HOD
- Investigates safety incidents that have occurred on train and clear them when appropriate
action has been taken
- Monitors safety performance of trains and staff to seek areas for improvement
- Ensures all maintenance work is done safely at all times
- Undertakes monthly safety inspections as directed by HOD
Requirement
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic Engineering
- Preferably at least 5 years of post-graduate working experience, with 3 years of relevant working experience in railway environment
- Strong people, planning and organizing skills
- Good analytical skills for problem-solving
- Good understanding of budgeting and financial control
- Strong commitment and strong sense of responsibility
- Resourceful, self-motivated and takes initiatives
- Result-oriented and able to work independent with minimum supervision
- Good team player with good communication skills
- Able to identify colours
