Responsibilities

Patient Care Management

• Provide specialized care and advanced nursing care and patient education by performing the clinical nursing role.
• Operate independently or with another RN without the need for clinical supervision or doctors instructions/ orders.
• Triage, assess, make provisional diagnosis and impressions, treat, monitor, discharge, transfer all cases that come in. Initiate prompt actions in the event of an emergency or a deteriorating patient.

Patient Communication

• Treat all patients appropriately and communicate all medical matters to them in an appropriate and understandable way.
• Ensure that the treatment plan, findings, disposition is communicated appropriately to the patient
• and other members of the team caring for the patient.

Medical/ Nursing Procedures and Skills

• Dealing with medications, allergies, dispensing, administering and monitoring of therapeutic effect on medications
• Perform point-of-care testing. Perform capillary blood glucose readings
• Able to perform BCLS, including utilization of mechanical CPR devices, Perform resuscitation, including use of AED function on defibrillators, performing CPR, and the treatment needed for the emergency treatment of patients

Documentation of Care

• Nurses should be able to document clearly and accurately using the appropriate medical terminology for medicolegal purposes.
• Documentation should be performed truthfully, and any errors should be indicated, counter-signed (if needed), and the reason for correction should be documented (where possible)

Requirements:

• The RN’s shall have valid practicing certificates with the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB) and shall have Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certifications.
• RN’s shall have at least two (2) years of experience in acute/ tertiary hospital settings, with preference to acute settings, such as emergency, intensive care, high dependency, general ward (medical surgical), prehospital medicine, or other related fields.

Our medical centre is building a pipeline of locum nurses so we can deploy additional manpower to support the growing services. Full-time opportunities may also be open, subject to availability.

Job Description

Provide direct quality peri-operative patient care in Major Surgery Suites (MSS), uphold professional standards through continuous education, supervision and development and maintain accurate records.

Key Responsibilities

• To assess, plan, implement and evaluate the peri-operative patient care in order to achieve optimum patient outcomes for surgical patients.
• To participate in the implementation of clinical practices and standards including utilisation of new technologies, regular clinical nursing audits to ensure high quality standards of peri-operative care being rendered to the patients.
• To demonstrate good and competent clinical skills, knowledge and critical thinking in the delivery of quality operating room nursing skills.
• To be a team player as part of the MSS team to deliver a high and safe standard peri-operative patient care providing supervision and support where appropriate.
• To participate in the care and maintenance of specialised equipment, ensuring an agreed standard of decontamination or disinfection at all times including accurate record for traceability of all equipment.
• To actively be involved in committee/s at departmental or hospital level when nominated to represent on term or ad hoc basis.
• To participate in the orientation, training and education of junior and newly recruited nurses for continuous professional development and maintaining their level of competencies.

Requirements

• Diploma of Nursing or Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
• Advance Diploma or post-basic qualifications in Peri-operative Nursing or equivalent.

• At least 6-8 years experience in hospital clinical settings of which 5 years in Operating Room (OR).

Roles and Responsibilities

• To explain the examination to patient, what he/she will be undergoing and the estimated duration of it, and obtain the necessary consent when required.
• To assist Radiation Oncologist in CTSimulation, brachytherapy and external beam radiotherapy procedures.
• To ensure that precautions have been taken to protect patients, staff and public from unnecessary exposure to inoizing radiation and infectious diseases.
• To perform documentation according to government legislation.
• To perform daily QA procedures on nursing and e-trolley equipment according to manufacturers’ recommendations to ensure the optimal performance of equipment.
• To perform any other duties as instructed by the Senior Staff Nurse or Manager/Radiation Oncologist.
• Possibility of deployment to Nuclear Medicine Centre, when required, within working hours.
