Navigating co-parenting, parenting stress and child development in a novel Work From Home (WFH) environment: A mix-methods naturalistic on-field investigation

The BRAIN Lab, led by Dr. Atiqah Azhari, in the SUSS School of Humanities and Behavioural Sciences is seeking qualified research staff to participate in a study of “Navigating co-parenting, parenting stress and child development in a novel Work From Home (WFH) environment: A mix-methods naturalistic on-field investigation”. This a mixed-method project that uses fNIRS neuroimaging technology and interviews to understand parenting and work-from-home behaviours. The project is scheduled to run for three years.

We are seeking a highly motivated research assistant with a strong mathematical background who is interested to explore new research directions in neuro-symbolic methods, specifically on the interplay between deep learning and symbolic reasoning. The successful candidate can expect to help with the implementation of algebraic machine reasoning frameworks and will work closely with other team members.

The goal of this project is to develop a general neuro-symbolic reasoning framework for solving various reasoning tasks. The symbolic reasoning part of this framework shall be based on algebraic machine reasoning, a new reasoning paradigm built upon commutative algebra and computational algebra. The non-symbolic part of the framework shall primarily be based on deep learning, and could include vision models, language models, and multi-modal models.

Qualification & Experience:

• Design and implement an intrusion detection system (IDS) specifically for monitoring and securing the IT-OT interfaces within power grid environments.
• Capture, decode, and analyze network traffic in the IT-OT domain of the ICS to detect and respond to potential security threats.
• Develop and refine algorithms and methods for detecting anomalous behavior or unauthorized access within the network.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity and network teams to integrate the IDS into the existing security infrastructure and workflows.
• Conduct continuous monitoring and periodic testing of the IDS to ensure its effectiveness and to update its capabilities in response to emerging threats.
• Prepare and maintain documentation related to the IDS, including system design, configuration, and operational procedures.
• Stay updated with the latest cybersecurity trends and advancements in intrusion detection technologies to recommend improvements to the IDS.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields.
• Proficient in Python programming with demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining software solutions.
• Solid understanding of computer networks, including network architectures, protocols, and security measures.
• Experience with network analysis tools, with a preference for candidates familiar with Wireshark.

The Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities at the Singapore University of Technology and Design is seeking a full-time Research Associate or (Senior) Research Assistant, to join a growing research team focusing on addressing critical urban environmental sustainability challenges.

Successful applicants will contribute to a project that applies a transdisciplinary approach to investigate individuals’ discounting of the impact of climate change in Singapore, and how we can use the everyday shared experience of urban heat to unlock pathways for addressing the inertia towards climate action.

Candidates should possess a strong interest in transdisciplinary research and urban environmental sustainability. Expertise in quantitative research methods and a background in social and/or behavioral science will be a plus.
