About The Job

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and supporting strategic and applied research projects focused on addressing critical social issues such as lifelong and inclusive education, healthcare, resilient families, environment and sustainability through data-driven approaches. The role requires expertise in social science, data analysis, and research methodologies.

What You Will Be Doing

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the conceptualisation and execution of high-impact research projects aligned with the Centre’s vision for social good, including the design and implementation of impact assessment methodologies to evaluate the effectiveness of social programs and interventions.
• Design and implement quantitative and qualitative research studies to explore key social issues.
• Analyse large datasets using advanced statistical tools to extract meaningful insights related to social impact.
• Collaborate with external partners to collect data and information required for projects, ensuring ethical standards are maintained.
• Engage with non-profit organizations, government agencies, and academic institutions to support research collaboration on social good projects.
• Lead the preparation of grant applications and proposals to secure funding from governmental, non-governmental, and philanthropic sources.
• Collaborate with the Centre’s leadership to identify new funding opportunities that align with the Centre’s mission and strategic priorities.
• Monitor project budgets, timelines, and resources, ensuring efficient use of funds and personnel.
• Prepare high-quality research reports, policy briefs, academic publications, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals, contribute to white papers, and present at conferences.

Job Requirements

• Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., Social Sciences, Public Health, Economics, Data Science, Sociology, Environmental Studies, etc.) or master’s degree with significant research experience.
• At least 3 years of post-doctoral or equivalent research experience, ideally in social impact or related fields.
• Proven experience leading research projects with interdisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated ability to secure research funding through grants or partnerships.
• Good publication record in relevant fields.
• Advanced expertise in research methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative.
• Proficiency in statistical analysis tools
• Strong understanding of data visualisation and reporting techniques.
• Excellent communication and writing skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Excellent stakeholder management with excellent interpersonal, facilitation and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Drive innovation in the areas of sustainability for the built environment and human wellbeing, focusing on energy use, thermal comfort, air quality and building controls topics.
• Co-create with business units in relation to sustainability initiatives, contribute to long-term product portfolio of Bosch, perform customer interview, formulate problem statements and generate innovation pitching and research proposals.
• Develop prototypes of AI/ML solutions to solve real business and engineering problems in the areas of optimal building control and human wellbeing improvement. Plan and execute experiments for proof of concept. Assist engineering team in the integration and implementation of the solutions in Bosch products.
• Build cooperation, assess opportunities, identify “Best-In-Class” within local institutions and universities for potential research / innovation collaboration.
• Regular alignment with Strategic Research Portfolio Owner, quarterly review project or milestone update, internal/external stakeholder management, idea pitching via Bosch Innovation Framework.

Get to Know the Role

You will work closely with the TFGI Programme Manager to develop research programmes for the institute, undertaking research and landscape analysis on social and economic issues accelerated by technology and tech-enabled business models in Southeast Asia.

This internship runs from January to May 2025, and you will be fully onsite.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• You will initiate data collection, data management and data analysis
• You will develop first cut of research data e.g. through desktop research, data analysis needed for TFGI's upcoming research works
• You will develop strategy for research engagements, including panel discussions, community conversations and dialogues
• You will draft research materials and shareable content e.g. slides, concept notes, message house for sharing to relevant team members for amplification of completed research
• You will support the team in daily activities

We are looking for an innovative AI Research Scientist to lead and expand our AI capabilities in agricultural data science and biotechnology.

Job Summary

As an AI Research Scientist (Agriculture/Biotechnology) at Chemigran, you will be responsible for developing and implementing AI models that analyze soil, crop, and environmental data to provide actionable insights for farmers and stakeholders. You will collaborate with agronomists, data engineers, and software developers to create scalable solutions for precision agriculture, sustainable farming, and new revenue opportunities in agriculture.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop AI Models: Create machine learning and deep learning models to analyze complex agricultural datasets, including soil health, crop yield, weather patterns, and environmental conditions.
• Research and Innovation: Conduct applied research in agriculture, biotechnology, and geospatial data analytics to develop new data-driven insights and recommendations for crop management, soil optimization, and sustainable practices.
• Data Analysis and Interpretation: Leverage AI to interpret data from diverse sources, including metagenomics, soil samples, satellite imagery, and climate data, to identify trends and provide predictive insights.
• Collaborate with Domain Experts: Work closely with agronomists, soil scientists, and environmental engineers to ensure AI models are relevant and aligned with agricultural best practices.
• Model Deployment: Collaborate with software engineering and data engineering teams to deploy models into production, ensuring scalability, accuracy, and reliability in real-world applications.
• Stay Updated on Technological Advances: Keep abreast of the latest research in AI, machine learning, and agricultural science, integrating new methodologies into existing models and workflows as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Educational Background: Diploma or degree in Computer Science, AI and machine learning applications, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of full-time experience working on AI projects, preferably in the agriculture, biotechnology, or environmental sciences sectors.
• Technical Skills:

1. Strong proficiency in Python, R, or similar programming languages.
2. Extensive experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn).
3. Proficiency in data analysis, statistical modeling, and predictive analytics.
4. Experience with geospatial data and satellite imagery is a plus.

• Domain Knowledge: Knowledge of agricultural science, soil health, crop science, or biotechnology is highly preferred.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across interdisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Blockchain or Web3: Familiarity with blockchain technology, particularly in agricultural applications, is a bonus.
