The Role

The Sustainable and Green Finance Institute (SGFIN) is a new university-level research institute in the National University of Singapore (NUS), jointly supported by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and NUS. SGFIN aspires to develop deep research capabilities in sustainable and green finance, provide thought leadership in the sustainability space, and shape sustainability outcomes across the financial sector and the economy at large.

This role is ideally suited for those wishing to work in academic or industry research in quantitative analysis, particularly in the area of machine learning and artificial intelligence. The responsibilities of the role will include designing and developing various analytical frameworks to analyze structure, unstructured and non-traditional data related to corporate financial, environmental, and social indicators.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to assume the following responsibilities:

• Design research projects in close collaboration with the Institute’s Directors (Prof. Sumit Agarwal / A.Prof Johan Sulaeman / A.Prof Zhang Weina) and Research Affiliates
• Take ownership and responsibility for the successful delivery of research projects, ensuring they are completed within the required deadline and allocated budget, and meeting/exceeding project specifications and targets
• Participate in pre-project activities such as identifying required resources to ensure project completion including staffing and organizational needs of the project team, and preparing high-level project plans with project timeline and resource requirements
• Development of data analysis frameworks.
• Plan, supervise and perform (if necessary) the development of supervised and unsupervised machine learning tools to process information from various data sources, including commercial databases and alternative, non-traditional datasets.
• Plan, supervise and perform (if necessary) the generation of impact measures using machine learning, in collaboration with the Institute’s Directors and other Research Fellows.
• Monitor progress of research projects and provide necessary interventions to ensure smooth completion of each project

Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant/Research Associate in the Human Potential Translational Research Programme (HPTRP), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant/Research Associate (RA) will be involved in an ethnographic and historical study that investigates the urban heat experiences and practices of Singapore households. The RA will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator(s) to ensure the successful and timely completion of the project. The RA’s principal role will be to recruit participants, participate in multi-method physiological-ethnographic fieldwork investigations (physio-ethnography), conduct ethnographic and oral history interviews, data entry and analysis, interview transcription and drafting of publications and reports.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Assistant/Research Associate will assist in physio-ethnographic research and analysis (i.e. conduct interviews, participant-observation, data collection and organisation etc.), liaise with relevant personnel and will be accountable to the Principal Investigator.

The Research Assistant will:

1. Support the conduct of physio-ethnographic research;
2. Provide administrative support to the project, such as in the recruitment of participants and data collection;
3. Maintain the highest standard of professional conduct and record-keeping in accordance with policies and procedures;
4. Maintain regular communication with other members of the research team;
5. Perform literature review, data analysis and drafting of reports and publications;
6. Work at different study sites, depending on the needs; and
7. Work beyond routine work hours due to the nature of research.

Qualifications

The applicant should:

1. Have a good Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in anthropology, history, geography or a closely-related social science or humanities discipline;

JOB REQUIREMENT

-Minimum of 4 years of working experience with at least 2 years of working experience as a System Architect.

-Experience in Microservices, Containerization, and DevOps is needed.

-Hands-on experience in Cloud Native Technologies such as in microservices, DevSecOps, and Container Platforms will be extremely helpful in this role

-Proficiency in designing and developing microservices using at least one programming language, preferably C# .NET, Java, or Python

-Strong understanding of CI/CD Pipelines in a distributed environment using Git, Artifactory, Jenkins, SonarQube, Docker registry, etc.

-Strong understanding of the Kubernetes platform including performance tuning, platform security, and monitoring tools

ISCE2 is seeking a highly motivated Biomanufacturing Scientist to our growing multi-disciplinary team to develop next generation sustainable technology for the biomanufacturing of fine and specialty chemicals. The scientist is responsible for the development and execution of biomanufacturing projects with moderate direct supervision. We are looking for an individual with a passion for science and sustainability who has a proven track record in development and optimization of fermentation science, bioprocess development, and/or downstream purification for biomanufacturing of sustainable chemicals.

The successful candidate may be responsible for but not limited to:

• Led engineering and optimising for fermentation / bioprocess innovations for the sustainable bioproduction of chemicals
• Establish, optimize and characterize downstream processes for increasing yields and purifications.

Ensure operational excellence and regulatory compliance in the centre.

Responsibilities:

• Provide operational support in the centre day-to-day and during center events
• Support the organization operations and research need through the workshops/laboratories, offices, building infrastructure and premise security management
• Conduct daily walkabout in the centre to ensure the centre is in good operational condition, uncompromised security and safety compliance
• Ensure a safe working environment within the centre
• Track, maintain and order the operational inventories and maintain a systematic filing system
• Work closely with in-house contractors for facilities feedback to keep the centre in a daily operational state

Job requirements

• At least diploma in related field (Facilities / Safety / Operations)
• Minimum 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in operations for workshop, laboratory, facility, building services, electrical and mechanical
• Willing to be scheduled to occasionally work off shift hours in support of operations
• Able to breakdown the assigned work into deliverable tasks and provide realistic timeline for their completion
• Competency in Microsoft Office, AV system. Experience in office outfitting/ relocation projects is added advantage.
