Role Description
As a Culinary Intern at Nurasa, you will have the unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the intersection of culinary, food technology and nutrition. This internship is designed for individuals passionate and want to pursue a career in the food industry developing healthier food options through the application of innovative ingredients and technology advancements. Successful candidates will be exposed breath-wise across different business function.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Work in menu design, food preparation, cooking, and plating.
- Willingness to explore new and novel ingredients and adapt into sustainable nutritious menu from beverages, appetisers, starters, mains & desserts.
- Learn various cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- Help maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, ensuring compliance with food safety hygiene standards.
- Support inventory management, including receiving and storing ingredients.
- Participate in menu planning and recipe development, testing, and special event preparations.
- Collaborate with team members during events and meal service to ensure smooth operations.
- Be open to feedback and actively seek opportunities for skill improvement.
- Pilot Plant Support, be exposed to food processing equipment e.g. extrusion, high pressure pasteurization and other processing equipment.
Minimum Academic Requirement:
- Diploma/Bachelor’s in Food, Nutrition & Culinary Science, Culinary & Catering Management, Food Science & Technology, Food Science & Nutrition, Food & Beverage Business, Food Business Management and any other relevant field.
Professional Qualification:
- Food Safety Course Level 1
Competencies:
- Proficiency in food preparation, cooking techniques, and plating.
- Ability to contribute to menu planning and create innovative recipes.
- Knowledge of proper kitchen sanitation practices and food safety regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with kitchen staff and support team members during events.
- Willingness to experiment with novel ingredients and adopt sustainable practices.
- Ability to manage responsibilities under pressure during special events and meal services.
