Role Overview:

We are seeking an IT Support Engineer who is adept at managing and maintaining our technical infrastructure and also possesses a keen sense of adventure and flexibility. Your role will extend beyond the confines of our office, taking you to data centers, airport airside operations, and retail locations. You will ensure the seamless operation of our IT assets, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement robust security measures. You will also oversee network security measures, including penetration testing and network vulnerability scanning, to make sure our technical infrastructure supports all locations with appropriate compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

· Maintains, configures, and ensures the reliable operation of computer systems, peripherals, POS devices, and network servers.

· Handles the installation and upgrade of computer components, POS devices, and software.

· Addresses hardware and software errors, prioritize problems, and mitigate the impact of IT issues.

· Drafts technical specifications for planning and executing regular IT infrastructure upgrades and update patches.

· Leads efforts in desktop and helpdesk support to minimize disruptions.

· Coordinates IT audits ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards, and addressing any audit findings promptly.

· Visits data center, retail outlets, and the airport and provide on-site technical support, ensuring the stability and security of IT operations across all locations.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Diploma or ITE in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fields.

· At least 2 years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure support.

· Certifications in relevant tech areas (e.g., Cisco CCNA) will be desirable.

· Proficient in hardware, software, and networking systems.

· Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

· An adventurous spirit ready for the demands of fieldwork across diverse locations.

· Good to have hands-on/technical knowledge of:

Network technologies, like Fortinet, Cisco switches, routers. LAN/WAN, subnets, firewalls, VLAN's, and VPN.

Responsibilities

• Provide IT technical onsite support for end user services problem which includes identification, diagnosis, rectification, and escalation.
• Installation, re based desktops, notebooks, printers, scanners hardware components. Examples of such components are hard disk drive, CD-ROM drive, DVD-ROM drive, CD/DVD writer, multimedia kit, random access memory, processors etc.
• Installation, re-installation, troubleshooting and reconfiguration of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft applications that are found in the Desktop PCs and Notebook PCs. Examples of such software are Windows XP/7 OS desktop OS, MS Office, Internet Explorer, MS Outlook, MS Outlook Express and Chinese version of the similar software, etc.
• Installation of customer’s access and in-house applications.
• Provides support for queries, escalation, problem determination, resolution, and MAC – move, add and change.

• Provide Offsite Standby support for emergency incidents / cases after office hours on a rotational basis amongst the team personnel.
• Duty event of a dropped / missed call, the duty engineer is to return call within 15 mins of the dropped or missed call.

Requirements

• Candidate must possess at least a Professional Certificate/NiTec /Diploma/ Bachelor’s Degree level in Computer Science/ Information Technology or equivalent.

• Able to work in a banking environment and open for shift work in case required.

Resident Engineer: Job Duties and Expectations

The Resident Engineer is responsible for the strategic, long-term management of technology-related hardware and software within A*STAR's Research Institutes, as well as overseeing daily information security and IT support tasks. This role includes safeguarding systems and ensuring cybersecurity measures align with organizational needs, address potential cyber threats, and adapt to evolving technologies.

Scope of Work

Asset Life Cycle Management

• Responsible for managing the entire lifecycle and provide technical support for scientific IT hardware and software, from procurement through decommissioning.
• Manage the inventory of scientific IT assets, including dependencies and attributes, ensuring that responsible teams accurately record any updates, removals, or replacements of existing assets.
• Verify scientific IT software assets against licensing agreements and conduct inventory checks on hardware assets, initiating re-tracking and corrective actions, as necessary.
• Provide level 2 endpoints support; Responsible for the onboarding, offboarding, Tech refresh support of entities funded endpoints.
• Plan, deploy and track scientific hardware assets and/or software licenses while making sure they comply with vendor contracts/licensing terms

Endpoint Antivirus Health Check

• Confirm that all endpoints have the approved antivirus software installed and running correctly. Identify any endpoints missing antivirus protection and prioritize them for immediate remediation.
• Reduce the risk of malware infections, ensure endpoint protection compliance, and maintain a proactive cybersecurity posture.

OS Patching Security Hardening and Post Hardening Remedies

• To perform OS Patching and upgrading of entities funded It endpoints.
• To conduct a baseline hardening for all operating supported systems (Windows, MAC and Linux – Ubuntu and CentOS).
• Provide Level 2 support for Linux and Mac scientific endpoints, addressing disruptive issues such as secure connection dependencies, and troubleshooting other Level 2 concerns on a best-effort basis.

Security Incident Response

• IT Resident Engineer to handle security incidents for WOA including triaging with stakeholders like infra team, IT admin officers, RI coordinators and project managers for example. This includes collecting artefacts and preparing incident reports.
• Candidates will guide users on the appropriate next steps after they report the loss of their IT assets to the Service Desk.

Evaluation for Cross Border Travel

• Evaluate the compliance of entities funded IT endpoints for user’s cross-border travel requests in a timely manner.
• Ensuring adherence to organizational policies and regulations. This includes verifying that all necessary security measures and configurations are in place to meet compliance standards before travel.

Requirements
