POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for developing and implementing tax strategies to ensure compliance with international and local tax regulations while optimizing the organization’s tax efficiency. Key areas of focus include transfer pricing, where the incumbent will design policies, conduct analyses, prepare documentation, and ensure adherence to evolving regulations, and tax planning, where they will identify opportunities to minimize liabilities, advise on tax implications of corporate strategies, and support business initiatives. The role also involves managing tax audits, resolving disputes, liaising with tax advisors and authorities, and staying updated on legislative changes to address tax risks and opportunities proactively.

The incumbent will undertake any or all of the following and has authority for:

Transfer Pricing

• Develop and implement robust transfer pricing policies and strategies
• Conduct thorough transfer pricing analyses/study to support intercompany transactions
• Prepare transfer pricing documentation and reports
• Monitor legislative changes in transfer pricing, BEPS and recommending/implementing strategies to ensure continuous compliance
• Advise on transfer pricing adjustments to optimize tax efficiencies of the Group
• Review and analyze transfer pricing agreements and contracts for compliance and effectiveness
• Address and resolve any transfer pricing disputes and develop effective negotiation strategies
• Perform risk assessments related to transfer pricing and propose mitigation strategies
• Organize and track relevant intercompany agreements, including working with finance and legal team
• Keep abreast of international transfer pricing trends and best practices to enhance company policies

Tax Planning

• Advise on tax strategy/opportunities/savings for the Group and provide recommendations/guidance on ways to reduce tax liabilities/exposure
• Advise the impact of tax liabilities and corporate strategies arising from new tax laws
• Support strategic tax planning for new business initiatives
• Work closely with tax professionals, if any, on tax planning strategies

Other Duties

• Supervise and oversee matters relating to any tax related audit & tax litigation, if any
• Liaising with tax professionals, tax advisor and tax authorities as needed
• Perform other related duties as assigned or indicated by responsibilities

Candidates with the following prior experience are preferred:

• Worked in Big 4 or MNC
• Singapore and regional tax exposure
• Good Knowledge of local tax regulations in Singapore, Saudi, Malaysia & Indonesia

Purpose of the job

To ensure excellence in delivery of financial accounts, including financial statements, management accounts, and annual returns, by overseeing the local private clients’ accountants and coordinating with the Mauritius Private Clients accountants assisting with the preparation.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to quickly build upon accounting, tax and financial management experience, especially in the private clients’ space.

The candidate will form part of a vibrant Trust Services (Private Clients) team, that lends his/her accounting expertise to bring greater value to the private clients’ relationships.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the local Trust Services (Private Clients) team by taking ownership and responsibility over preparation and quality of the financial accounts within the team.
• Managing a portfolio of clients accounts ensuring high quality service deliverables to clients, including but not limited to, review and preparation of the financial accounts where applicable.
• Ensure excellence in delivery of all financial accounts of the local private clients team.
• Coordinate, liaison and lead the accounting process with Group centralised accounting team (i.e. Mauritius) where applicable, towards ensuring excellence in delivery of accounts.
• Review and prepare full or partial sets of accounts (monthly, quarterly and yearly) for the portfolio of clients.
• Ensure accurate recording of accounting transactions and analyse financial information, to prepare meaningful management accounts and supporting schedule
• Prepare tax computation and assist with tax compliance matters.
• Ensure payments are processed in compliance with the client’s policies and statutory requirements.
• Review and prepare financial statements under SFRS and other international GAAP where applicable
• Coordinate with external parties including external auditors, tax agents, corporate secretarial and government authorities, where required
• Establish good client relationships through positive interactions with the clients
• Liaise with banker, auditors and other professional parties where required
• Any other such duties that would be reasonably required for this role.

You’ll be part of a commercially-minded Global Tax team in Finance, helping to ensure our tax affairs are efficient, transparently compliant and slick so that our mission is sustainable. 

Your mission

• Manage the outsourced preparation of APAC corporate tax and withholding tax computations (e.g. Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Philippines and Thailand). This includes adhering to controls, managing risks and identifying ways to automate and streamline manual tasks using existing systems or emerging technologies. 
• Work closely with Product and Banking teams on expansion of new products and licence applications to ensure tax requirements are met.
• Assist with the preparation of IFRS half year and year-end tax reporting and tax provisions for local statutory accounts and group reporting with the help of advisors where necessary. 
• Work closely with financial controllers, accounting, and finance system teams for sources of data and information, including directly extracting information from our ERP system.
• Support the on ad hoc research and projects, including expansion into new countries and liaising with external advisors to ensure tax requirements are met.
• Engage in team-wide initiatives including budgeting, forecasting, planning, risks and controls. It is important to be interested in and engaged in all tax initiatives and to work closely with all members of the tax team.

Educational Qualification:

• Strong knowledge of Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS), GST, and corporate tax regulations.

Purpose:

The Manager / Senior Manager, Tax Advisory works with the tax team to provide tax advisory services to a mixed portfolio of corporate and individual clients.

Core Responsibilities:

• Advise clients on Singapore corporate tax issues which include cross-border restructuring, tax treaties, withholding tax, permanent establishment issues, BEPS 2.0 Pillar Two matters, tax due diligence, acquisition tax structuring, and drafting tax advisory memos to a mix of corporate clients across industries.

Responsibilities:

Tax governance & policy matters

• Reporting to the Head of Tax, you will ensure compliance with relevant tax and transfer pricing regulations across all entities in the Group, Singapore and regional (Greater China, India, ASEAN)

• Assist with the implementation of the Group Tax Strategy and the roll-out of tax policies, tax controls processes and best practices

• Assist to drive continuous tax optimization projects, Group tax process and controls improvements projects to enhance tax compliance quality and efficiency. Provide improvement recommendations

• Assist in developing tax-efficient structures for investment, intra-group financing, corporate shared services, cross-border transactions

• Monitor relevant updates to the Group tax governance and transfer pricing policies & best practices, in accordance with the latest tax regulation developments

Tax Compliance

• Oversee all aspects of tax compliance alongside the Finance team, ensure timely review and filing of tax return

• Review to identify tax planning opportunities and to minimize the occurrence of tax controversies

Transfer Pricing

• Manage/ facilitate the preparation of transfer pricing documentation report, tax position papers, benchmarking study in collaboration with the local country Finance team

• Responsible to ensure proper and adequate transfer pricing documentation is maintained to support intra-group transactions in compliance with local regulations

• Perform operational transfer pricing review to align business arrangements with transfer pricing policy and objectives

Tax Reporting

• Set up and maintain a central tax database for Group tax reporting, data analytics, preparing for the BEPS Pillar 2 requirements

• Manage the Group’s tax reporting, including annual tax accounting process, periodic review of tax provision balances and deferred tax assets/ liabilities to ensure accuracy

• Perform tax data analysis to offer insights and recommendation plan to manage tax risks for optimization and mitigation

• Provide tax advice, guidance, training to internal users on direct taxes, indirect taxes, withholding tax and other tax matters. Develop tax sharing content and conduct tax sharing sessions/ training to finance peers

Tax Advisory

• Business partnering to provide tax support on business transactions and projects

• Provide tax leadership and support on M&As and internal projects

• Support Human Resource department on foreign assignment’s tax compliance matters

• Review business and intercompany contracts for tax risk management

• Support/ handle application for tax incentives and government grants

Tax Audit

Tax Trends & Development
