The Global Compliance Management Services - Centre of Excellence (CoE) is seeking to fill a full-time role of senior tax PMO. The candidate should have tax background and experience on the asset management industry. Candidates for this position will be capable of understanding technology at an intermediate level and leading internal projects (Medium to large) from conception through to the successful delivery of the project. The role will work within the Global Tax Compliance and Transformation team at the direction of the GCMS CoE or their delegate based in Singapore. The role is designed to afford the right candidate with the opportunity to learn many facets of the Tax business and engage internally and externally with clients. The breath of the role will also require someone with the ability to easily adapt to the ever-changing tax environment and to be flexible in the work required by the role. KPMG’s Global Tax Compliance and Transformation team is specifically designed to help clients achieve cost-efficiencies and gain better process control and visibility. The team has been established to support the growth of KPMG’s tax compliance service offerings. The aim of the team is to drive the implementation of internal and external initiatives within the Global Tax Compliance and Tax Transformation arena and ensure high quality on-going services are provided to several our clients. As part of the transformation team, this role will support 5 main strategic goals:

1. The first goal will be to support the building / development of the internal operational processes. These internal projects will be critical to developing the foundation and the integrity of the services which can be delivered.
2. The second goal is to lead and implement the transition initiatives for new clients in various countries and regions. Intention is to ensure a consistent delivery model, which includes the preparation of standardized data packs, process maps, RACI, Local transition packs and all the activities necessary to conduct transition in an efficient manner. The candidate will be able to leverage the KPMG transition toolkit and methodology implemented by KPMG for these purposes.
3. To support with the PMO function by leading the coordination activity of compliance obligations of existing clients, supported by enabling technology and respective delivery centers.
4. Fourth, the role will be to serve as a liaison with other parts of Global Tax Compliance and Tax Transformation, most notably the technology team responsible for technology landscape
5. Finally, the role will be required to support business development activities to support the broader transformation team agenda and growth of Global Tax Compliance client base and targeting and Go-To-Market strategy.

As a senior manager consultant level, the ability to effectively deliver the above services in a timely manner, of high quality, whilst keeping the broader team informed will be critical to your success. Strong communication both written and verbal are mandatory to the role. You will need to work collaboratively with other parts of the business and support the team as required in completing their tasks. To be successful you will need to have a ‘proactive’ approach to completing your work and supervising your peers’ work.

As such we are looking for professionals with previous experience (+9 years). Accounting and tax background in a plus. These professionals will have some specific goals around this competence, namely:

• Conduct investigations of suspected violations of Singapore Tax Laws and assist in the prosecution of tax evaders

You will be involved in:

1. Cross border multi-jurisdictional tax and transfer pricing projects as businesses restructure or transform amidst the evolving and changing global tax landscape, especially with BEPS 2.0 and the increasing levels of tax disputes across countries and regions.
2. Identifying market entry or exit tax issues and workarounds. Legal entity rationalization. Transactional or operating model design, review and implementation. Tax governance and tax risk management.
3. Understanding development objectives and value drivers of businesses, e.g. headquarters functions, centres of excellence, manufacturing and distribution activities, finance and treasury operations, intangible property, incentives, etc, and helping them achieve sustainability with the alignment of their tax and operating model. In addition, to also help strategise, plan and apply for research and development grants or deductions, incentives or other forms of government support, where required
4. Where mergers and acquisitions take place, advising companies and private equity investors on all tax aspects of their transactions - acquisition, disposal, refinancing, restructuring or initial public offering. And helping with negotiations throughout the transaction life cycle, from initial due diligence to post-deal implementation

Qualifications and skills

• A degree related to Accountancy / Finance / Tax / Business / Economics / Engineering / Information Technology; a CPA, CA or similar certification
• At least 5 years of relevant experience for manager role, at least 8 years of experience for senior manager role
• Solid foundation in complex tax and/ or transfer pricing advisory, international tax matters, treaty related issues, disputes, BEPS knowledge, etc.
• An open mind and the ability to lead with confidence, influence and inspire the next generation, adapt and perform under pressure
• Problem solving, time and project management skills

This role offers an excellent opportunity for Tax advisory and compliance professional, who is client service focused, highly organized and detail orientated, to play a key role in the growth of the Tax business unit. A key member of the management team, your role is pivotal to client experience, to accelerating team success and to manage our diverse portfolio of corporate and individual clients. An opportunity exists for financial services tax consultants / lawyers to join our growing Deloitte Singapore financial services tax advisory and compliance practice. Our team is diverse and includes accountants, lawyers and economists. Our team members have broad experience, which includes law firm and / or in-house corporate tax experience. A number of the team have worked in other markets (such as Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, the UK and the US). We strive to learn from each other and leverage our respective experiences.

The team focuses across financial services sector (i.e., banking and capital markets, insurance, investment management and real estate) as well as emerging areas such as digital assets, fintech and carbon credit trading. The work that we are undertake is varied and ranges from tax compliance to fund structuring, financing transactions, global information reporting, securities taxes and tax disputes. We lead the delivery of regional and global engagements from Singapore.

Responsibilities will include preparation of tax computations, assisting with tax research, assisting with the preparation of tax advice, preparation of proposals and presentations, and assisting with business development.
