The Tax Associate supports the Tax function in the provision of Income Tax / Goods and Services Tax / Transfer Pricing services to clients. Our services include both compliance as well as advisory services.

Job Description

I. Transfer Pricing

Support the Partner and Manager teams in servicing clients in relation to their tax needs in the area of transfer pricing. Our transfer pricing services include:

• Design cross border supply chain mode
• Implement pricing policies from a commercial perspective
• Perform industry specific economic analysis
• Support clients in handling their tax controversies
• Develop strong relationships with our clients and with our colleagues, both internally and across the Baker Tilly International Network.
• Work with colleagues internally and across the globe in relation to proposals and delivering on tax projects in transfer pricing.
• Provide support in relation to marketing activities such as seminars, webcasts and business development collaterals.

II. GST

Support the Partner and Manager teams in servicing clients in relation to their tax needs in the area of GST. Our GST services include:

• Advise clients on the GST implications and applicable treatment of their business transactions (e.g., new business arrangements, cross border transactions)
• Assist clients with the application of GST registration, exemption and GST scheme
• Assist clients with the review and e-filing of GST returns
• Conduct GST health check reviews, GST due diligence reviews, Assisted Self Help Kit (ASK) reviews, Assisted Compliance Assurance Programme (ACAP) reviews
• Assist clients in managing IRAS GST audits/investigationsAssist clients in seeking GST rulings from IRAS
• Develop strong relationships with our clients and with our colleagues, both internally and across the Baker Tilly International Network.

III. Income Tax

Support the Partner and Manager teams in servicing clients in relation to their tax needs in the area of income tax. Our income tax services include:

• Assist clients with the preparation, review and e-filing of their income tax returns (and organising the necessary information request flows, documentation and research needs)
• Assist in fulfilment of clients’ income tax advisory needs in relation to their business transactions (e.g., new business arrangements, cross border transactions)
• Assist in fulfilment of clients’ income tax advisory needs on tax structuring matters and conducting income tax due diligence reviews (typically in M&A situations)
• Assist clients in managing IRAS queries/audits
• Assist clients in seeking income tax rulings/clarifications from IRAS
• Develop strong relationships with our clients and with our colleagues, both internally and across the Baker Tilly International Network
• Work with colleagues internally and across the globe in relation to proposals and delivering on tax projects.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage the preparation of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports, tailored to the F&B business.
• Conduct financial analysis to compare actual performance against budgeted figures, analyzing variances, and providing insights into cost management, sales performance, and profitability.
• Provide management with financial reports and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assist in decision-making, strategic planning, and operational improvements.
• Oversee the calculation and management of food and beverage costs, ensuring efficient inventory management, proper valuation, and control of waste or spoilage.
• Monitor payroll expenses, overtime, and staffing levels in relation to revenue, and ensure that labor costs are optimized to align with sales projections.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Finance Manager, FSS-AR & AP, you will manage a team of Senior Accounts Officers to provide support on all AR and AP matters for the assigned portfolio. You will also have an opportunity to participate in projects relating to process automation or process improvements.

Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable

• Support the AR function and activities including invoicing receipting and refunds ensuring alignment with the Group’s internal policies and procedures
• Reconcile AR ledger to ensure all receipts are accounted for and properly posted
• Perform month-end close in accordance with Singapore International Financial Reporting Standards (International) (“SFRS(I)”), including reconciliation and audit schedules
• Review monthly journals, reconciliation reports and intercompany balances

Accounts Payable
Handle end-to-end transactional processes pertaining to Accounts Payable:

• Monthly AP financial closing and management reporting, including performing variance analysis, review of vendor invoices and intercompany settlement, journal vouchers, schedules, batch payments, staff claims and bank recon to ensure adherence to the Group’s policies and guidelines
• Review monthly supplier reconciliations performed by the AP team and investigate discrepancies
• Partner with Procurement Office and Business Units to ensure vendor invoices are matched to goods receipt/services performed and payments are made within credit terms
• Perform review of quarterly GST reporting, submission and GST related clarifications
• Collate, review and respond to internal/ external audit queries

Qualifications & Work Experience

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy or its equivalent, with at least 2 years of relevant working experience.

Skills

Technical skills include:

• Strong working knowledge of SFRS(I)
• Prior experience in working with the SAP ERP system would be advantageous
