As part of Raffles Hotel Singapore’s Leadership Development Programme, the Food and Beverage Management Trainee will gain practical experience and knowledge through a structured 18-months programme. The programme will involve a rotation across various restaurant concepts and supporting departments, which will be customised based on operations’ and trainee’s expectations and requirements. To complement their learning and assimilation into a leadership role, the management trainee may be involved in special projects as assigned by F&B leaders, and mentored by a senior leader of the hotel.

Primary Responsibilities

Food and Beverage Service

• Provides excellent service at all times to all of our guests based on established hotel standard operating procedures.
• Is always well presented and adheres to hotel’s grooming standard.
• Greets and farewells guests and colleagues in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Assists colleagues and guests efficiently and in a professional manner.
• Takes responsibility for residents’ and guest belongings in the restaurant or bars.
• Has extensive knowledge of our food & beverage menus in order to service our product, including liquors and cocktails.
• Undertakes F&B special projects as directed by F&B leaders and/or mentor.  

Provide a leading and consistent guest experience

• Promotes sales through direct guests’ contact.
• Constantly obtains guest feedback during operation ensuring guest satisfaction.
• Handles minor complaints and reports to the managers for proper follow up.
• Builds strong relationships with local guests and builds loyal following as foundation for a successful operation.
• Maintains levels of confidentiality and discretion of the guest, colleagues, operator at all times.

Management and Leadership

• Is a role model for the Food & Beverage Associates.
• Proactive, innovative with in depth Food & Beverage and market knowledge.
• Observes colleague’s individual performances, grooming, and punctuality and communicates with the managers accordingly.
• Provides a high level of Safety and Security for guests and colleagues.
• Checks daily opening and closing duties.

Training, learning and development of the team

• Completes all components of the Raffles Leadership Development programme.
• Conducts regular on the job trainings for colleagues to develop their skills and knowledge.
• Assists in recording and submitting monthly On-the-Job Training hours to Food & Beverage Office before the 15th of each month.
• Guides the departmental orientation for new hires.
• Ensures that colleagues are aware of hotel rules and regulations.
• Ensures that colleagues are trained on fire and safety, emergency procedures and hygiene.

Other Responsibilities

• Performs any other duties that may be assigned by the manager.

What does the management trainee do?

You are actively supporting Sika on our sustainability net Zero journey, driving decarbonation and contributing making our world a better place. Sustainability has many aspects and involves all disciplines and as a management trainee you are going to rotate to Research & Development, Marketing and Procurement to learn all company functions, policies, and staff duties. You contribute to strategic planning and help evaluate levers and enable their implementation.

You will gain exposure and experience in:

• Participating in meetings, workshops, trainings, and be embedded in our global sustainability community.
• Observing and learning from experienced staff members and participate in coaching session.
• Support implementation of global sustainability initiatives on regional or local level in Asia Pacific.
• Participate in company’s strategic planning.
• Create and give presentations to get the buy-in from local, regional, or corporate management to implement sustainability initiatives.
• Connect with different offices and disciplines to understand their daily processes and goals and travel and meet them as required.

• Support Marketing communication about sustainability and customer documentations (e.g. EPD)

• Calculate and analyze sustainability data and compare footprint of raw materials, products and solutions for customers.

What does the management trainee do?

As the Management Trainee - Digital Marketing, you will be rotating and learn the various aspects of Marketing such as social media management, graphic design, video production, PR, branding, events, marketing automation, customer engagement, and strategic marketing. This role will immerse you in the region, with the opportunity to rotate to Marketing roles in different countries.

You will gain exposure and experience in:

Multimedia content creation

• Collaborate with the Marketing team to understand multimedia requirements for campaigns and initiatives from other teams.
• Conceptualize and develop creative ideas for engaging multimedia content (e.g. videos, graphics, animations).
• Utilize video editing software, graphic design tools, and other relevant applications to create polished multimedia content.
• Incorporate feedback from stakeholders to refine multimedia content to drive viewer engagement.

Internal and external communications

• Craft compelling content for various digital channels (e.g. social media, website, email campaigns) and analyze the effectiveness in reaching different audience types.
• Develop engaging copy and multimedia content to communicate Sika’s brand and industry leadership.
• Contribute to content ideation and creation for internal and external audiences.
• Ensures content adheres to the global brand guidelines, tone and writing style.

Other responsibilities

• Assist the Regional Marketing Managers in completing their daily tasks.
• Support the Regional and local Marketing teams in special projects when required.
• Participate in meetings, workshops, and other learning activities.

You will gain exposure and experience in:

• Work with regional R&D, Marketing, Operations, M&A and Country Business team to identify key areas of interest
• Conduct and develop search strategies and identify start-up companies in the area of interest via own desk research / using external consultants
• Create a long list & short list of potentially interesting investment opportunities in start-up working with Sika team
• Develop the process to evaluate start-up’s including (i) what improvements it will bring Sika, (ii) stage of start-up (idea, prototype, first sales etc..) and (ii) how Sika could add value to start-up working with various departments in Sika
• Develop existing relationships and build new ones with potential start-up owners
• Project manage the investment opportunity from beginning to end, including due diligence, financial planning, scoping, closing and integration
• Performing company valuations as part of investing into start-up, including assessment of relevant business, operational, and financial aspects
• Organization and coordination of due diligence activities and execution of selected financial due diligence. Liaison with external consultants and internal/external business leaders
• Proactively identify issues and opportunities to guide the decision-making process.
• Creation of internal approval documents in cooperation with the line management for the attention of the Group management/Board of directors
• Also supporting M&A projects and pipeline management in close cooperation with M&A Head and business leaders
• Analysis and Preparation of information for M&A projects as required by M&A Head
• IMO activities as needed

Day-day activities & Cross functional activities

• Work closely with M&A Head APAC in areas of start-up investment projects and few M&A projects
• Accompany and interact in meetings with various departments (R&D, Marketing, Operations and Business teams) to identify area of interest for investing in start-ups
• Use search tools to identify start-ups
• Create tools (excel / web based) to manage the identified start-ups (long list & short list)
• Get in touch with Owners of start-up
• Travel to meet Owners and develop relationship and gather information
• Tarvel with M&A head for certain meetings in country and/or M&A targets
• Develop presentation on the start-up and information as required by Sika template working with the team
• Develop business case for start-up investment opportunity working with M&A head and relevant departments
• Project manage the investment opportunity across global, regional and country organization
• Prepare presentations for Sika group management for decision
• Upon an identified investment project, the management trainee might be required to spend considerable amount of time / rotated to stay in the country where the project will be implemented (mainly in APAC countries)
