JUNIOR WEB DEVELOPER

We are seeking a Junior Web Developer contribute to the design and development of the Web UI architecture for our low latency, high performance electronic trading system.

Responsibilities

• Successful candidates will be able to independently contribute high quality web application code for UI as well as non-UI parts
• To communicate and collaborate effectively with other Developers, QA engineers, as well as Product Owners to ensure successful client rollouts

Who we are seeking:

• Degree educated in an Engineering or Computer Science related subject.
• 0-2 years of experience working across frontend technology stack, ideally in a financial trading environment.
• Solid grasp of web development technologies, practices, and protocols, such as HTTP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, JWT, REST APIs, WebSocket
• Good understanding of modern browsers, including Web APIs and DevTools
• Keen interest in high performance architectures and associated concepts, e.g., low latency, performance and scalability design
• Knowledge on Java would be advantageous.
• Knowledge in development lifecycle and build tools such as Git, Maven, Jira, Jenkins
• Independent, good work ethics, resourceful and problem solver, being able to gain initiative, work independently and produce high quality solution

RESPONSIBILITIES

Mediacorp Brand Studio is hiring a talented and experienced Assistant Editor for its growing content marketing team. Candidates should be passionate about creating impactful content that spans across different formats - from print articles to digital and social media copy - and mediums that include audio and video. Candidates will work with a pool of freelancers and collaborate closely with an experienced in-house team of creatives, editors and art directors to produce engaging content on Mediacorp's platforms. This can be in the form of advertorials, customised digital campaigns and custom content for clients. Besides sharp writing and editing skills, the ideal candidate is also creative in storytelling, being able to shape compelling content ideas around client briefs.

The role involves taking ownership of the entire production cycle of projects from ideation, execution to amplification and requires good planning, project management and client management skills. The ability to work on multiple projects/campaigns with tight deadlines is essential. The Assistant Editor will report to the Senior Editors of Mediacorp Brand Studio.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects/campaigns within the Brand Studio team
• Manage writers, designers and freelancers to ensure successful development and execution of projects/campaigns to high standards
• Work with in-house creative, editorial and art teams to create innovative content solutions
• Work with various editorial and product development teams to ensure branded content fits seamlessly on Mediacorp platforms
• Ensure all projects/campaigns are delivered on-time and represent the highest creative and editorial standards
• Develop compelling branded content that aligns thematically with the sponsoring brands and fits seamlessly alongside editorial content across platforms

• At least 3 years' experience in a relevant role for Assistant Editor
• Proven track record as a creative storyteller. Must be strong with scripting and original concepts
• Journalism experience in creating factual editorial and non-paid video content for newsroom or digital platforms. Strong editorial judgment and appreciation for the rigour of fact-checking are key
• Experience working with different formats of content, ranging from video and infographics, to podcasts and feature stories of different beats
• Experience in creating both bite-sized and longer-form content for a digital market is a plus
• Familiarity with Mediacorp's platforms, brands and celebrities is an asset

Responsibilities:

• Take charge of front-end page layout and beautification in the project.
• Integrate designer’s sliced HTML/Assets template with backend API data response.
• Continuous enhancement to current application front-end using Vue.js.
• Maintain old WordPress system and migrate it to our in-house CMS system.
• Building reusable components and UI libraries for future use
• Design and build responsive web-based UI
• Optimizing components used/render for maximum performance across different devices and browsers.
• Collaborate with back-end development engineers to discuss system integration solutions, optimize compatibility, and system response performance.
• Enjoy taking up challenging problems that is new to the team and research/solve it together as a team will make your way up
• Partner with our marketing maestros to ensure brand consistency.

Requirements:

• At least a Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma or Professional Degree in Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication), Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience in software programmingExperience working with any various language like (Vue.js/ Angular.js/ react.js)
• Proficiency in client-side web technologies (HTML5, CSS)
• Experience in modern development tools likes git, npm, yarn
• Customer experience-oriented and has a positive attitude for teamwork
• Solid understanding of RESTFUL API concepts is a plus
• Familiarity with backend API development (with Laravel technologies) is a plus.
