The Director of Tax Technology, Governance, and Transformation will be responsible for designing and implementing end-to-end tax technology solutions that reinforce tax governance and compliance standards. This senior leadership role will ensure that tax processes are not only efficient but also aligned with the highest standards of regulatory compliance and technical accuracy. You will be accountable for shaping tax governance frameworks, overseeing the deployment of tax technologies, and leading a team dedicated to client success and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement the strategy for tax technology and governance services, aligning with company goals and client needs to drive long-term impact.
- Establish and maintain tax governance frameworks that promote regulatory compliance, risk management, and technical accuracy across all tax technology initiatives.
- Serve as a senior advisor for executive clients, addressing their governance, compliance, and technical needs through technology-driven solutions.
- Direct the successful delivery of complex tax technology projects, from concept to completion. Ensure projects are on budget, on time, and meet client specifications.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team focused on tax technology, compliance, and governance, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
- Oversee the selection, implementation, and optimisation of tax technology platforms (e.g., ERP integrations, automated compliance software, and AI-based tax solutions) to enhance governance and compliance.
- Ensure that tax technology solutions align with current regulatory requirements, including staying updated on global and local tax laws that impact client operations.
- Lead initiatives to standardise and automate tax reporting and compliance processes, enhancing accuracy, efficiency, and governance across client engagements.
- Drive adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies for all technology implementations, ensuring data integrity, privacy, and security.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Information Systems, or a related field. Advanced certifications (e.g., CA, CPA, CTA, CISA) or an MBA are highly preferred.
- Minimum of 12+ years in tax, finance, or technology transformation, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focusing on tax transformation and governance.
- Expertise in tax technology platforms (e.g., Vertex, OneSource, Alteryx, ERP systems) with a strong understanding of tax governance frameworks and technical tax principles.
- Ability to develop strategies that bridge tax governance and technology, with foresight into market trends and regulatory changes.
- Proven track record in managing complex, high-stakes projects, with skills in budgeting, resource allocation, and performance tracking.
- In-depth knowledge of tax compliance, reporting standards, and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate technical and governance-focused solutions to C-suite executives and other stakeholders.
- Experience in building and leading teams, driving a culture of accountability, and delivering on governance and compliance-focused objectives.
