We are seeking an inspiring Head of Senior School to guide the next chapter of our Senior School (Grades 6–12), further developing and enhancing our Academic, Pastoral, and Enrichment programmes. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of students and who will continue to shape our school’s positive and supportive environment.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Principal, chair the Senior School Leadership Team, and work collaboratively with the Head of the Junior School and the Board of Governors. This role requires someone who can lead with warmth, integrity, and a commitment to excellence in all areas of school life.
Applicants should bring significant experience in senior leadership within a Secondary School context and must fully embrace the NLCS vision, ethos, and values. They should lead by example, embodying integrity, creativity, resilience, and fairness. The ideal candidate will have a clear strategic vision for the Senior School, ensuring it aligns with our overall goals and enhances student achievement and well-being.
Strong interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, alumni, and the wider NLCS community. We are looking for a leader who is deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and dynamic school culture where all students thrive.
THE ETHOS
The ethos of NLCS (Singapore) echoes that of NLCS (UK) – every effort is made to recreate the ethos of the UK ‘parent’ school whilst taking into account and remaining sensitive to the local culture and context.
The School aims to provide a first-rate ambitious academic education for every child, which inspires a lifelong love of learning and gives the knowledge, attitudes and confidence to flourish.
At North London Collegiate schools, academic success is gained, not through an emphasis on results, but by creating an atmosphere of rigorous scholarship; students are encouraged to study beyond the examination syllabus in order to develop their intellectual independence and love of their subjects. Pastoral well-being is of the utmost importance, and good relationships are fostered between students and staff and between the students themselves.
THE CURRICULUM
The curriculum reflects the academic ambition and aspirations of NLCS (UK), and schemes of work will broadly reflect the curriculum of NLCS (UK). This is supported by an extensive co-curricular programme of Sport, Music, Drama and other activities, which closely reflects that at NLCS (UK), and are provided to enrich and broaden the education offered, developing the talents and confidence of students.
NLCS (UK)
North London Collegiate School (UK) was founded in 1850 by Frances Mary Buss; she aimed to offer an academically ambitious education to girls, similar to that available to their brothers. The School has pioneered women’s education for over 160 years and remains among the highest-achieving schools in the UK. Exam results regularly top the UK league tables, and the School has repeatedly outperformed other prestigious schools regarding Oxbridge success rates.
INTERNATIONAL SCHOOLS
In 2011, NLCS opened its first international school in South Korea: NLCS Jeju. The School, now in its eleventh year of operation, has established itself as one of the region's most successful schools.
In September 2017, NLCS opened its second branch school in the UAE: NLCS Dubai.
