JOB DESCRIPTION

The role of the Learning Support Teacher is to support classroom teachers and subject specialists to identify, understand and address the learning needs of all of the young people in their classes, ensuring that each learner is engaged, confident and challenged to achieve.

This involves working directly with teachers and learners, and offering support and guidance to curriculum planning meetings (when necessary) and whole staff professional learning and development meetings. The Learning Support Teacher be responsible for facilitating the learning needs of all learners on the SEN register in their allocated year group(s), where necessary will collaborate with teachers in the classroom, produce Learner Passports and Personalised Learning Plans in collaboration with and for those with identified needs to promote their access to all aspects of the curriculum, use a strengths-based model to empower learners to take responsibility for their learning, use evidence-based interventions to meet the needs of learners and provide coaching to colleagues and parents where necessary.

• Work with teachers to build capacity and awareness of pedagogical strategies to support learners with diverse needs.
