Job Description:
1. Responsible and accountable for the safe and efficient operation of assigned vessels in accordance with the ship-management agreements, company procedures, guidelines and policies.
2. Prepare operating budgets, docking/upgrading specifications, budget follow-up and cost control.
3. Follow up and implementation of local, national and international rules and regulations and ensure implementation on board.
4. Prepare contingency activities, planning and organization.
5. Engage daily operations of the vessels, overseeing both technical and operational aspects.
6. Specify and approve the quality and quantity of goods (stores, spares) and services.
7. Provide technical support and applicable technical feedback to shipboard management.
8. Analyse all incidents, accidents, operational and performance reports, and Environmental Management System activities.
9. Ensure that the vessels are operated efficiently and, in an environment-friendly manner without compromising on safety.
10. Provide feedback for meetings with Head office in Japan.
11. Act as a window to communicate with Head office in Japan, shipbuilding industry and Class on technical issues.
12. Conduct flag change procedure for Japan flag.
13. Manage the delivery process for newly constructed vessels and oversee the management transfer of ship management.
Job Requirements:
1. At least 1 year of experience as a Master or Chief Engineer on an ocean-going vessel being assigned or an equivalent qualification.
2. Hold a minimum Diploma certificate or equivalent in Maritime Engineering.
3. At least 10 years of experience in the maritime industry.
4. Capable of supervising staff at sea.
5. Candidate should have good practical knowledge of vessel operations.
6. Adequate ability and attitude to work in a multicultural organization.
7. Basic computer skills are required.
8. Have adequate understanding of various regulatory requirement of shipping industry.
9. Good command of written Japanese is essential for preparing reports in Japanese and communicating with head office and related parties.
10. Knowledge of Certificate system for Japanese Flag vessels.
11. Ability to handle Japanese flag ships, providing technical support and managing documents in Japanese.
12. Ability to communicate & coordinate with Japanese owners and ship managers in Japanese.
13. Sailing experience on LNG vessels.
