The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant/Research Associate in the Human Potential Translational Research Programme (HPTRP), Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant/Research Associate (RA) will be involved in an ethnographic and historical study that investigates the urban heat experiences and practices of Singapore households. The RA will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator(s) to ensure the successful and timely completion of the project. The RA’s principal role will be to recruit participants, participate in multi-method physiological-ethnographic fieldwork investigations (physio-ethnography), conduct ethnographic and oral history interviews, data entry and analysis, interview transcription and drafting of publications and reports.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Assistant/Research Associate will assist in physio-ethnographic research and analysis (i.e. conduct interviews, participant-observation, data collection and organisation etc.), liaise with relevant personnel and will be accountable to the Principal Investigator.

The Research Assistant will:

1. Support the conduct of physio-ethnographic research;
2. Provide administrative support to the project, such as in the recruitment of participants and data collection;

Qualifications

The Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore invites applications to fill one tenure-track position of Presidential Young Professor (PYP) at the rank of Assistant Professor, who will contribute to the delivery of the MSc Climate Change and Sustainability and other areas of the Geography programme. Applications are especially invited from individuals with expertise in groundwater vulnerability, hydrogeology, water and human health, climate change adaptation.

The NUS Presidential Young Professorship Scheme aims to attract, support, and empower the brightest and most promising young academics in the early stage of their careers so that they can develop themselves into world-class scholars. Successful PYP candidates are awarded a start-up grant package of up to SGD 750,000, scholarships to hire PhD students and an award of SGD 250,000 in white space funding.

The successful candidate will join the dynamic and collegial Department of Geography, which has an international profile as one of the world’s top Geography Departments (6th in QS ranking 2024) in one of the world’s leading and best-resourced universities. Responsibilities

In terms of academic responsibilities, the successful candidates will be expected to:
