Job Summary

The Senior Medical Technologist will be responsible to perform laboratory testing and maintenance of daily operations in the clinical diagnostic laboratory to always achieve smooth running of a quality laboratory service.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Perform assigned clinical laboratory testing accurately and in a timely manner.
• Ensure the validity of tests results through the performance of established quality assurance and quality control procedures.
• Reagents/Materials/Supplies monitoring.
• Evaluate clinical specimens received and organise workflow to provide optimum efficiency of testing and turnaround time of results.
• Extract DNA from various specimen types.
• Perform PCR, hybridisation, library preparation, next generation sequencing, as well as a variety of advanced genetic laboratory applications.
• Evaluate results to determine interference, inhibition, or other problems that arise during extraction, amplification, or sequencing of nucleic acids.
• Perform quality control, validation, and other activities to verify the performance of clinical assays.
