Get to Know the Role
We are seeking a Senior Engineer to become part of our Development team at our manufacturing facility, which focuses on new product and technology development. Your responsibilities will include participating in the development of deposition processes for new product innovation, employing statistics-driven methods for experimental design and data analysis, and staying updated on the latest advancements in the field. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will need to coordinate with the R&D team at our facility in Nagasaka, Japan, to provide engineering support for all activities and new product setups.
Essential Responsibilities
- Research and Development: Lead and participate in research projects focused on developing new mask blank materials and technologies. This includes designing, synthesizing, and characterizing thin films and materials used in photomask blanks.
- Process Development: Develop and optimize deposition processes (e.g., sputtering, chemical vapor deposition) to achieve desired material properties and performance criteria. Implement process control strategies to ensure consistency and quality.
- Material Characterization: Conduct in-depth analyses of materials using various characterization techniques (e.g., SRM, TEM, XPS, AFM) to evaluate film properties, uniformity, and defect levels. Interpret data to guide the development process.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure the seamless integration of new materials and processes into production. Provide technical expertise and support throughout the product life cycle.
- Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in material science and semiconductor technology. Identify and explore new opportunities for innovation and improvement in mask blank technology.
Skills and Competencies Profile
- Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Research and Development, with a strong background in thin-film deposition, material science, and semiconductor manufacturing. Experience in the mask blank industry is highly desirable.
- Expertise in thin-film deposition techniques (e.g., sputtering, CVD), material characterization methods (e.g., SEM, TEM, XPS, AFM), and process optimization. Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation is required.
- Experience demonstrating statistical skills in data analysis. Knowledge of JMP, Minitab, DOE, and SPC is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to a diverse audience.
- Able to work effectively in both cleanroom and fast-paced environments.
