The Singapore Centre for Environmental Life Sciences Engineering (SCELSE) is a unique interdisciplinary Research Centre of Excellence (RCE), funded by National Research Foundation, Ministry of Education, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and National University of Singapore (NUS). Hosted by NTU in partnership with NUS, SCELSE is linking new insights from the life sciences with expertise from emerging technologies in engineering and natural sciences to understand, harness and control microbial biofilm communities and microbiomes. This is enabled through its strengths in analysis of complex microbiomes, using advanced computational biology and cutting-edge facilities in genome sequencing, bio-imaging and bioreactor processes.

SCELSE is seeking to hire a Manager, Business Data Operations Management provide day-to-day facilities management and the data centre in SCELSE through ongoing end-user support as well as monitoring of HPC resources, including its 13,000 plus core compute servers and over 4 PB of high-capacity storage. The Business Data Operations manager is also responsible for the yearly performed external audit, as well as the key contact person for the SCELSE NSCC (National Super Computing Center) partnership.

In addition, the role will additionally ensure smooth operation of the SCELSE HPC through infrastructure planning, facilities budgeting, and regular review of physical and logical security of the SCELSE HPC with continued partnership with NTU-HPCC and NTU-CITS.

Responsibilities

Partnership Management

• Contribute to the planning and execution of outreach activities.

• Send periodic updates to principals and further education counselors of high school partners.

• Plan and coordinate marketing and outreach activities in new targeted countries while deepening penetration in traditional markets.

• Establish and cultivate strong relationships with top schools through regular engagement for instance sending of EDM and relevant updates on their graduates studying in NTU.

• Get prompt feedback from partners on political and economic changes on the ground that might affect admissions results.

• Execute and adapt marketing campaign in different overseas markets based on differences on the ground.

Marketing and Event Management

• Work with team in conducting outreach activities based on outreach schedule and liaise with stakeholders to ensure successful conduct.

• Organize outreach visits to partner schools and coordinate with faculty representatives from colleges.

• Host foreign visitors from partner institutions and handle walk-ins by prospective applicants and their parents.

• Work with MOS team to ensure that marketing collaterals are updated and appropriately stocked.
   

Admissions application and selection

• Understand the education systems in new markets and propose admissions selection criteria based on market practices, intake targets, and applicant quality.

• Work with supervisors and schools to manage the issuance of offers, monitor acceptances, and handle appeals to meet the objectives of the MOE and NTU Management.

• Update and adhere to admissions policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).

Supervisory

• Coach a team of at least 2 support staff and temporary staff in processing applications and answering queries.

• Select, hire, and supervise temporary staff.

• Participate in work improvement projects.

Administrative

• Work closely with team members in delivering excellent service to internal and external customers.

Requirements

• A degree from a recognized university.

• At least 7 years’ relevant working experience in a higher educational institution or management of professional education programmes would be an advantage.

• At least 4 to 6 years supervisory experience and in managing a team with more than 1 direct report.  

• Prior experience in business development, partner and/or event management.   

• Proficient in MS Office applications and data analytics.

• Good communication skills with an excellent command of written and spoken English with public speaking experience.

• A strong collaborator – ability to work well in within the team and with key stakeholders.

• Possess exceptional organizational skills – the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.

• Possess strong analytical, interpersonal and customer service skills.

NIE invites applicants for the position of Assistant Head (Research) in the Finance Department. This is a 3-year contract position.

Responsibilities

Reporting to Head/Finance, you will be responsible for the following functions:

• Administration of Research grant and projects of NIE.

• Administration of the financial project (WBS) modules in SAP and Research management system.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and management on budgets, reporting, outlook and cashflow.

• Collaborate with external funders and external auditors on grant matters.

• Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvements to enhance the financial management processes and procedures; through streamlining and automation.

• Provide financial advice to internal stakeholders.

• Supervision of staff.

Requirements

• A University Degree in Accountancy or in Accounting major.

• At least 5 years of accounting and managerial experience.

• Must be a member of the ISCA (The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants).

• Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and writing skills.

• Strong conceptualization and analytical skills.

• Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.

• Self-motivated, able to work independently and as a team player.

• Knowledge of SAP Hana S4 and SAP Concur would be an advantage.
