Role Purpose (Why do we need this role?)
This role will promote best practice to maximise benefits associated with third party spend by ensuring the company optimizes its procurement outcomes in response to the current and anticipated strategic and operations requirements. Responsible for implementing strategic procurement within the Logistics category including, process, policy, approach and in developing category strategies enabling procurement to be a valued business partner.
Role Accountabilities (What is this role responsible for delivering?)
Strategy
- Develop and implement category strategy within the Logistics category and regularly update it, in close collaboration and alignment with the Logistics stakeholders
- Drive and be accountable for category performance and initiatives
- Contribute to setting, driving and implementation of global procurement standards and best practices within the Logistics category
- Drive change and process improvement across P2P where relevant
- Support responsible and sustainable procurement policy and process
Influencing and Negotiation
- Utilize initiative and proven negotiation skills to agree on positive outcomes for the business
- Drive, develop and execute negotiation strategy with suppliers and key stakeholders
- Managing strategic sourcing projects within the Logistics category, to ensure alignment between costs, commercial needs and operational execution (sourcing strategy, TCO modelling, negotiation strategy and contracting)
- Drive implementation of digital procurement tools (eSourcing, eCatalogues, eAuctions) where relevant
Analysis
- Perform data analysis, cost analysis, supplier and market analysis
- Define benefit targets and ensure targets and KPIs are achieved on a set portfolio of spend categories
- Provide direction, leadership and insight in identifying, analyzing and realizing opportunities
Business partnering / Stakeholder Management
- Develop and maintain effective relationships and be a credible business partner
- Work with the business to understand spend, risk profile, requirements and process
- Strengthen the credibility of the procurement team to be able to influence procurement decisions and outcomes
- Manage key stakeholders for collaboration and implementation of key initiatives
Process
- Assist with the development of practical processes and policies
- Drive change and process improvement across P2P where relevant
- Support development of continuous improvement
- Support development of responsible procurement framework
Safety
- Take responsibility for the safety of myself and those around me by displaying safety leadership principles (i.e. Safety I’s & Accountability ladder).
- Challenging and stopping unsafe acts and behaviors or unsafe conditions.
- Comply with the Global Safety Standards, Polices and Operating Procedures.
Key Qualifications & Skills(What knowledge will ensure success in the role?)
Qualifications
- Degree qualification in Procurement, Business, IT, economics or related field
- CIPS Qualification desirable
Technical Skills
- Minimum 5 years in Category Management
- Experience in the shipping industry
- Proven ability in the development and execution of procurement category strategies
